Okay, so. I'm a saxophonist. I deal with treble clef. If I'm on an Eb sax I can read bass clef as-is (useful to pretend to be a tuba on baritone sax), and I can sometimes - very sometimes - transpose, on-the-fly, C instrument music on a Bb sax (say, for example, to double an oboe part on soprano in a pinch, or euphonium on tenor.) I haven't tried it in almost 20 years, but I'm pretty sure I could go back to my college sophomore-level music theory class and sit in on a test and reasonably pass it. I even once embarked on a highly ambitious (and doomed to fail) journey to compose a wind symphony arrangement of the 2nd movement of Beethoven's 9th (in the hopes that my high school band would be brave enough to attempt it) but life interrupted and I'm pretty sure I still have a lot of that work in a box somewhere. What I'm trying to say is, I'm no superstar musician or anything, but I'm definitely not an amateur. I have never properly seen bassoon sheet music before. Does it always look like this? How do you survive? How are you not driven insane already? WHY DO YOU NEED MIDDLE C TO MOVE AROUND SO MUCH JUST LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS????? And how do you make it look so easy?

Good question Speely! I don't know why but many young bassoonists share your frustration. Side effect: I'm terrible at reading ledger lines 😆

please make one of these for 2025 concert all state🙏🙏🙏
