Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over (Lyrics)
Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners, and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses, and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run
Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too, oh
Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height
By someone who should have known better than that
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come
The dog days are over
The dog days are gone
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here they come

It was only a matter of time before this song was used in a movie. I had always hoped it would be in a movie with heavier more realistic themes, but was totally happy with it being part of Rocket's story. It was perfect.
It's not often that a live performance sounds just as good if not better than the studio recording but she nailed it

+Casey Travis VERY few bands do. The ones that do usually go on to have very long careers. I think Florence will be one of those, whether with her band or solo b/c she is a real talent.

Need to listen to more music. The Allman Brothers Band, Deep Purple, The Who, Queen, Rush, Nazareth, Scorpions, Prince, W.A.S.P., Twisted Sister, Lynyrd SKynyrd and so on all sound better live than they do in studio. It isn't rare. It is just pop music is so boring, sterile and simple that there is no room for improvement.

I'm a pensioner, a Janice Joplin, Neil Young and so on type of guy who always thought that Video killed the radio star and Music died after the eighties, Not after watching this, What a satisfying voice!.
Florence is a rare performer whose music makes you feel like you're at her live performances even when you're not!
Her smile at 0:28 gives me chills. It's so sincere, as if she is opening her eyes for the first time and shocked to see so many who adore her.

I'm 14 years late, but what a treasure! Thank you guardians!
She can connect and be herself so effectively because she is easily one of the best new voices and the songs click. She doesnt have to put up a fake front because she isnt self conscious about how she sounds or looks. She has simply got it.
I genuinely think this is one of Florence's favorite songs to perform. She was so into it during this performance, and of all the "Live on Letterman" videos of her, this is the only one I saw her smile in. This is my favorite song, love you Florence!!!!

She's had three more album releases since this song, one of which is by far her best album to date, arguably way better than this song! My gosh She's just perfect. So much soulfulness in Her voice !!
You watch the people in this video, and you realize that Florence has created a song that truly means something to people. =D
She nailed that performance she sounds good in the studio and live. She killed it.
This woman’s voice is just… so amazing! Like from another world. Loved her for years but just now seeing this performance. I’ll tell ya… she sounds INCREDIBLE live
The vocal control and vocal restriction skill on her is an matched. She delivers the song perfectly, while still making is unique.
I love when singers/bands actually sound the same as they do recorded. so beautiful
I’ve seen Florence live a number of times and she is just amazing, such an incredible person
Letterman had some epic performances and this is definitely one of them.
What an angelic voice she has ❤
Now that's how you move an audience. That is overwhelming to watch. You can't STOP watching.
It takes a true artist to sing just as well live as they do in a recording. This woman is a true artist. Love her voice.
She shines like diamonds inside and out of the sky
This song reminds me of just standing up and running through a field full of flowers
This song is freaking solid. This is the first song and voice that gave me shivers and nearly brought me to tears when I first heard it....
I know this was a breathtaking performance and very thing but WHY AM I CRYING?!?? How do they make me feel that much with just one song?! ❤️🎶❤️

The voice on this woman is incredible! i cannot wait until i see her live
Wow....a force of nature....completely congruent with every motion, movement and tone. Complete and total authenticity........So rare.

This band is on fire...I hope that Florence and the Machine go far!
Florence the Machine 100% talento puro ♥️♥️♥️
God dude she is such an amazing singer fr
She is the artist ❤
Man O' Man! Are you kidding me? Spectacular!!!
Guardians of the Galaxy reminded me how awesome this song is
What a great song and performance! Florence was only 24 then and now 34 today. But back then for some reason I thought she was a lot older. She's really hot but I envisioned her as maybe early 30's back then and 40's today.
Typical of many of her songs with driving drums, simple and effective bass line, and a break of silence at some point in the song. A remarkable artist in every sense.
Such a deep song on so many levels... a fave...oh the memories...🦋
her face is look like the late Lady Diana..both of them are beautiful..:) and I love the song, too.. very wonderful..
finally, someone who doesnt need a studio to sound amazing
Powerful!!!! She makes you feel alive!!!!!
Now that is entertainment.

Legitimately one of the most spectacular singing voices I've ever heard. Just incredible.
Absolutely fabulous. This woman is an incredible performer. And a GREAT band. She did another really nice version of this on SNL in 2010 with Anne Hathaway hosting but I can't find a link to it anywhere.
GOTG 3 brought me here, actually it reintroduced me to this song…. I heard it back then, but actually it touches me deeper after growing up 🥹
Because of guardians of the galaxy vol.3 i play this song every day.
Florence and The Machine always does such awesome live shows, that's real talent right there
Florence and Lana! They´re pure talent...
This has to be one of the most unique songs EVER!
Out of nowhere, I realized myself I was applauding and dancing and moving around the room in the inheritance of life’s loneliness. Reminding me I’m alive
how could I find florence so late in time??? she is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
Oh my god, I love her. Her voice is just so incredible and she sounds absolutely amazing live (not that I'm surprised, 'cause It's Flo). She is just an enticing woman to watch perform.
