Honest question. Why worry about the gap around the perimeter if you're nailing each board off anyways? Can't really buckle at that rate

@@jacygardner2242 It's more accurate to say that the wood fibers swell rather than the wood moves. A board which is nailed down will still swell and contract around the nails, generally leading to a larger hole and squeaky floor. The nails hold the floor down and prevent gross movements, such as the floorboards sliding around underfoot.

Except in Florida. Concrete subfloor is a completely different set of rules, unfortunately.

you forgot the most important tool : knee pads! You only have one pair of knees, you should protect them.

Actually easier to to keep a scrap piece of flooring, lock that into a tongue or groove, and use that to hammer in place.

We have a machine similar to your cutter called the "d-cut" and it's made for cutting vinyl millwork wall base and can do different angles like 45s for inside and outside corners. Sweet!

Wish i knew how to finish my hardwood floors. I got Pergo Premium stuff and can't figure out how to do the edges around the walls and door frames. I'm assuming I need to take the door frames out. I removed the base trim.
