Thank you!
i absolutely love watching others weavers loom! its so peaceful!
Well, you weren't joking when you said you climb inside your loom. And good to see that pool table is making itself useful.

I feel like I can't do without the extra space the pool table provides now, it's so good for cutting out and, ahem... putting all my junk on! 😆
Great video, I struggle to explain to my non-weaving family what it takes to get the loom ready for weaving and link long boring (to non weavers) videos that they don’t understand. You did it in 8 minutes! Great overshot pattern Thank you

Once you have it all set up and understand how to do your tie up it's pretty straightforward. Does yours have a sectional or regular beam?

Thank you! I loved watching your video from the warping board to finishing your weaving. It'll help me a lot with putting the warp onto my floor loom. 🙂
This was very beautiful. More of these please 😊

Wow, this was fascinating and so interesting.. I can't imagine how long it took to just wind the warping board. This beginning weaver will never again whine to herself that warping her rigid heddle loom seems to take forever. Would love to see more videos like this one. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! And yes, warping a rigid heddle loom is super quick in comparison. You will get faster at that as you go along, it does seem really slow when you're a beginner 😊
Beautiful video. I haven't been able too weave for a few weeks now - life has got too busy - and this reminded me of how much I enjoyed it. I must get beck to it soon!

wow, what a process. i'm not sure i'd have the patience. makes me wonder about the first weavers in history and how it progressed. i'm always grateful when i think how easy our lives are in the day to day necessities.

And to think the first weavers would have source and prepare the fibre, spin and dye the yarn before even thinking about dressing the loom!
I remember making the cardboard loom with you years ago! Caught the weaver bug from you! God bless the work of you hands and heart!

This was a very relaxing video! The weaving patterns were beautiful 😍! Great job I wish I could come sit by you and learn how to do this! I have a 1936 Union floor loom I use for rugs, the 2 treadles, I get!!! I also have a 8 shaft Mountain loom that I'm not sure how to warp to get something this intricate! Thanx Teresa ☆

This is by far the clearest video of how to warp a floor loom I've seen thus far. I'm going to watch it again. 1 question: When threading the warp through the texsolv heddles, does the thread normally go through all heddles of each shaft, or does it depend on the pattern? 😅 thank yoy
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
Each thread goes through one heddle on one shaft. So, if you have 1000 threads, you need 1000 heddles 😊
Wow. Literally my next project. Strickler 481

Why all the zig-zagging when warping? You could have spared your shoulders by going back and forth at the bottom (and adding your crosses, naturally). Is your loom a Glimåkra Standard? (ETA: I saw that you answered the question in another comment)

Hey Kelly. The warp is supposed to go over the knee beam to give your legs more room :). Interestingly later in the video it had moved. You must have noticed
@KellyCasanova

Yes, I corrected that part of the way through, thanks to viewers telling me what I needed to do. It was pretty uncomfortable trying to weave like that! 😆
👌👍🙏🙏🙏
I love watching you weave, even if it is sped up. I am trying to get a warp done so that I can weave on my 4 shaft, 4 treadle loom, had one done but somehow it got tangled so had to toss it, but will not give up. Have you ever done any rep weaving?
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
No, I haven't done rep weave, I like it very much though. Not enough hours in the day to try everything I want to! 😀
Lovely! Music and weaving. Now, time lapse is wonderful but when did you start on the warping board and when did you cut it off the loom? Actual time spent would hopefully compare to my actual time, which is much more broken up due to full-time job with 3 hrs daily commute, and other family commitments (full time care givers to hubby's 92 yr old mom).
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
My time is also very broken up, so this was filmed over a period of about a month. I never time things, it's too tricky!
Wonderful! What kind of loom?
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
Varpapuu Berga Savonia countermarch 😊
What sort of loom is this it looks like my Bergå Savonia ? If so. Do you have any instructions? Mine is from the 1980’s and the instructions are gone
@KellyCasanova
4 ай бұрын
Yes, it's the same! Mine came with a kind of leaflet but not really instructions. I have found Joanne Hall's "Tying up the countermarch loom" helpful. While it's written for a Glimakra countermarch they are actually fairly similar in many ways.
Question! What is the name of the type of loom you used in this video? I’m specifically referring to one that can lift up different sets of warp threads at a time.
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
It's a countermarch floor loom. The brand is Varpapuu Berga Savonia, they are no longer made but are similar to a Glimakra countermarch.
How long did it take you to warp and dress your loom?
@KellyCasanova
Жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know, I never time myself and I worked on this for various time periods over about a month.
