flooding on the Minnesota River at Old Cedar Ave pedestrian bridge June 25-27 2024-then & now photos

I didn’t think Long Meadow Lake would flood this spring given the dry winter. These are photos and clips from when I was there in November 2023, March 2024, and now on June 25-27, 2024. The observation deck must be mostly or fully under water, and the muskrat habitats from my March video must be washed out. The water is moving fast, and what I hope was a sleeping motionless muskrat was curled up on a massive mound of brush caught on the pedestrian bridge.

Some photos are low quality, but they suffice to show how high the water has gotten. As of June 27, the parking lot is closed off, so people are walking in after parking farther away.
The audio is birdsong that I recorded without video beside the path to the observation deck in March 2024. It sat unused until now!

I didn’t have a gimbal yet at this time, so it’s a bit unsteady.😁
