Floatation Foam Removal | Aluminum Boat Renovation | Episode 3: Foam For Days
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is the 3rd episode following the renovation of our 1985 Landau aluminum bass boat. Today we remove all of the old, water logged floatation foam in order to continue stripping this boat down to the bare hull.

Just opened up my 17' Princecraft deep V to replace some soft flooring and found saturated foam insulation. After seeing your weight comparison I see no choice but to remove and replace. Thanks for the video. (I think)

It’s a mess and tedious but certainly worth it. Good luck!
Can't wait for the next vid!!!
Drain Spade Shovel. That’s the trick. Still a lot of work.
Looking g forward to.an update doing the same thing to my sea nymph
Replace with XPS foam (Lowes) cut to size. This will allow you to install drainage channels.

Polystyrene is not fuel resistant. Not a good choice. Polyethylene or EVA foam. Basically waterproof for life and chemical resistant.
Hi, my grandpa's old aluminum fishing boat was left outside, uncovered, through all 4 Michigan seasons for about 15 years. The wood is in surprisingly good shape, but I'm replacing it anyway because although it is not completely rotted, it is water logged. How can I tell if I need to replace the foam?
How’s the finished project?
Wish my wife helped!! Haha
Acting possibly theater? Most people stumble on the word “ umm “ you started out strong. 1/2 way started doing it. Oh well hang in there.
