    I just got my FPV Vapor BNF for $55 off of a bid on eBay today in fantastic condition! I got a chance to fly it and I noticed that it has horrible stalling characteristics when flying at full throttle. Use full throttle when taking off, but immediately lower it to 50-65% to get a nice clean take off. The rudder is on the right stick which is interesting as I never flown a three channel plane before. Another warning for beginners at this plane is to be very careful at using rudder as it's very sensitive to turns and elevation. Turning it can cause it to tip and crash into the ground. Of course after learning off of this from first hand experience, I broke my prop at a hard landing on a pile of wood that just came out of no where. lol From my experience flying the Nano QX FPV, the clear props are usually the first ones to brake and that the motors can't handle the weight. Surprisingly the extra weight from the camera/transmitter and the 180mah 45c 1S battery doesn't seem to cause any noticable issues with the motor from the FPV vapor which makes me very happy! I had fun for the 2 minutes I had in the backyard and it was definitely intense getting to learn this plane fast. Once I broke the clear prop, it was kind of a struggle to remove it as the prop shaft is so fragile. I plan on taking Josh's advice and ordering myself some spare parts as I know I'll need them as I learn to fly this plane with grace.

    This plane has been discontinued but it’s on the shelf at my local hobby shop for 199.00 which is more like it! I guess they didn’t really go over good. They were very short-lived but I wouldn’t mind having one as I own a few other vapors the ones with the lights and even the newer one the UMX By E-flite . You can still get parts for these and the regular night vapors but when you order parts they’re under different part numbers.

    I want to see you make a solar powered quad using the new sunpower 22.5% efficient solar cells. The quad will have to be ultra light and about 2meters wide to fit enough panels on it but it should be fun.. The cells are 8 grams for max 0.6V @ 6A so 20 of them gives you max 12V 6A at a weight of 160g. You can get them from ebay/aliexpress for around $100 for 20 cells. They are quite delicate as they are raw cells (no encapsulation) so some care will need to be taken to figure out the best way to mount them.

  • @ulaB

    @ulaB

    9 жыл бұрын

    My simple 450ish ElectroHub quad pulls more than 40 Amps IIRC. That might be a little difficult with 6A at maximum efficiency of the solar cells.

  • @Psi105

    @Psi105

    9 жыл бұрын

    Balu Yeah i think i was getting confused between the two concepts i had. The 20 cell version was the absolute min i could get to work on ecalc. From memory it was a tricopter with 20 inch props. Hover current was 4.2A. The better version, (which would have a real chance to fly), was a 10x10 grid of 125mm x 125mm squares (the cell size) with 9 of those squares missing at each corner for the motors to go. So basically 64 cells are in a + arrangement in two parallel banks (19V @ 12A) Total quad size was around 1.3 meters square. Only thing that maybe an issue is wind catching the thing and flipping it over because its a large flat surface that doesn't weigh much.

    FPVREVIEWS i cant post links in youtube comments but if you search for "sunpower cell" you will find them. They look like blue squares. You can get 32 for $109 on eBay. You have to solder them up yourself, (they are raw solar cells) They are bendable to 30deg but will snap if you bend them too far or hit them hard.. The up-side is they are really light (8grams) so you can decide how best to mount them without adding too much extra weight. I was planing to try and sandwich them between two sheets of cleanfilm with some thinned down silicon rubber to glue it all together. Then lay it flat on top of a carbon fibre frame of some sort.

    I've been watching your videos for a while now, well over a year. I have to say your production quality is great and so are episodes such as challenges and tips. The problem is that every single review you do is always saying the product is amazing, there are hardly any negatives and it sounds like you are trying to sell us the product. If you guys were to actually talk about the quality of a product (similar to RCModelReviews does) then your reviews (and videos in general) would improve massively.

    They just love everything they fly, but there is always a little criticism (sometimes you need to listen closely though). Peter mentioned a few times that with FPV it is too heavy and underpowered. They also said that the price is a little high, but then you get FPV gear with it and looking at the footage from the video receiver it doesn't look very clean to me.

    Is the view really that bad when wearing the goggles, or does it get distorted when trying to capture it on film?

    Its bad becauses it is indoors where there is interference. It is only 320 x 240 resolution.

    I wear glasses and use the Boscam GS920 goggles for FPV. They fit really well over my glasses. I've tried fatsharks (a friend's) and Headplays which I won in a contest. Both meant flying without glasses. I was pleasantly surprised by the Boscams.

    Hey Flite Test, add that little FPV Camera to the Little Cub "Safe" version from Horizon. It'll probably hold the weight better. Be kind of neat. - Peace.

    I really wouldn't suggest buying the vapor too because not only does the stock transmitter suck, the wings rip really easily. It's expensive to replace after awhile and was you can see its not good quality. The reciever is crap and glitches really often. It's great for little kids, if you don't like them.

    I found this ARTF on a great sale, and I am looking to get into fpv, so can someone tell me if the camera is removable and can it then run of the standard small E-flite battery that the plane uses? Thanks in advance! update: I meant almost BNF I think, so without the googles.

    I believe its still on sale. The camera is removeable and uses the same battery. However, I have had problems with the wire comming off the camera. Its a bit difficult to solder together. You will get good video going around 100 feet away, then it starts to break up for me. Id reccomend getting the kit for 200, (the goggles are 215$), then buy the va1100 camera for 100. The wires are more sturdy on it. Hope I helped.

    jmlon99 do some research for other fpv transmitters for use with the gopro or other cameras. But buy the bundle now. It will save you alot of money.
