Flipper 1964 - 1967 Opening and Closing Theme (With Snippet)
Ойын-сауық
Flipper, from Ivan Tors Films in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Television, is an American television program first broadcast on NBC from September 19, 1964, until April 15, 1967. Flipper, a bottlenose dolphin, is the companion animal of Porter Ricks, Chief Warden at fictional Coral Key Park and Marine Preserve in southern Florida, and his two young sons Sandy and Bud.
The show has been dubbed an "aquatic Lassie", and a considerable amount of juvenile merchandise inspired by the show was produced during its first-run. The television show is an adaptation of the 1963 film Flipper starring Chuck Connors and Luke Halpin as Porter and Sandy Ricks, and its 1964 sequel, Flipper's New Adventure, where Brian Kelly took over the role of Porter.
In adapting the films to a television series, the producers made Porter a single parent and gave him a second son named Bud, played by Tommy Norden. The producers departed yet again from the films in endowing Flipper with an unnatural degree of intelligence and an extraordinary understanding of human motives, behavior, and vocabulary.

I couldn't wait for Saturdays when there wasn't no school, and Flipper had aired me, and my sibling would sit right in front of the tv to watch Flipper. That was the best childhood any children could have.

Thank you so much. My little brother was so intrigued by this show. When he was in his 20s he went to Florida to build boats. He sent me a cookie jar that made the flipper sound. He passed away in his late 20s from a bad heart valve. This theme song is my little brothers ❤️

I THINK IT WAS, I SAW MY LAST FLIPPER EPISODE IN A MOVIE THEATER , SOME WHERE IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA.....I REMEMBER TO THIS DAY, I WAS CRYING BECAUSE I WANTED TO HAVE MY OWN PET DOLPHIN, MOVE TO FLORIDA, AND LIVE THERE.... AS SOON AS I COULD!.. EVENTUALLY I BECAME BECOME A COMMERICAL DIVER... WELL, I AM 68 NOW OVER 50 YEARS AGO... HOW IMPACTED I WAS AFTER SEEING THAT MOVIE. !!!!!!!!!!..... SINCE THEN, I HAVE SCUBA DIVED ALL OVER AMERICA AND THE CARRIBEAN, .....COUNTLESS DIVE DOWN HOURS UNDER OIL RIGS, OFF THE GULF OF MEXICO, BEACH DIVES, CAVES, AND WRECKS...ALL BECAUSE OF THIS ONE MOVIE THAT CAPTIVATED MY HEART AND SOUL, WHEN I WAS A VERY SMALL BOY.....THE THINGS I HAVE SEEN AND EXPERIENCED UNDER WATER, ARE FAR BEYOND WORDS TO DESCRIBE,..THE BEAUTY, AWE OF NATURE, THIS FORIEGN ENVIROMENT, FILL WITH BREATH-TAKING CREATURES,... WAS A VERY CHEAP PRICE FOR THE 5 DOLLARS MY MOM OR DAD PAID,... THAT LAUNCHED ME INTO A WORLD OF WONDER, THAT FEW PEOPLE HAAVE EVER EXPEREINCED.. I AM JIM HAMMERS, NOW RETIRED IN FT. LAUDERDALE FLORIDA..HEAVEN ON EARTH......
As a farm kid in Nebraska I often dreamed about what it would like to live like these guys. During the cold Nebraska winter nights, watching them having fun and adventure in the warm waters of Florida.

I saw this in reruns back in the 1970's. Just love Flipper, the Miami Dolphins football team has a mascot named Flipper.
I went to a private Christian School in the 90s and after classes were over for the day, we'd watch a re-run of Flipper while waiting for our parents to pick us up. Just a random but sweet childhood memory.
I loved this show as a child. Now, I just recently returned from a vacation in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, and there are adventure companies that take people out doing different activities. I opted for swimming with the dolphins. I got to live a childhood fantasy and swam with a dolphin, or rather he swam with me holding on, plus I got "kisses" on my cheek and we did a little dance holding his fins! It was so much fun, and I got to cross off something from my childhood bucket list! I just had to hear this theme song again from childhood. What a beautiful memory, both then and now.

My god. This was aired in Croatia in 1981, 1982. I was 3yr old kid, I remember this intro song. Everything would stop when there was Flipper or Muppets.
The music for the classic "Flipper" song was written by Henry Vars, who was actually a very distinguished Jewish composer who managed to survive during WWII in Poland and emigrated to the US after the war. He scored a number of movies and composed symphonies and popular songs and worked at MGM in the 1960s. The lyrics were by William D. "By" Dunham who wrote songs and lyrics and was also a producer.

Although this is TV, the show had the feel of a Motion Picture. The cinematography was awesome. The music and vibe was very ‘Disney’. And the boys with their New York accents. Norden’s was especially pronounced and he seemed a natural comedic actor (e.g. facial expressions). reminds me now of the ‘Our Gang/Little Rascals’ comedies. TV today has lost so much of it’s innocence. Thank you for posting. Now I need to point out that this intro demo is not the complete collection. It only includes the later episodes. A revival of the iconic 1964 TV series entitled "Flipper - The New Adventures" was attempted in 1995, but didn’t attract much attention. The first two seasons aired in syndication. Seasons 3 and 4 aired on the PAX network. Flipper - The New Adventures was set in a town named Bal Harbor, somewhere in the Florida Keys. In reality, the show’s first three episodes were filmed in Pigeon Key, Florida and at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida. The balance of the show was actually filmed in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In 1996, Universal Pictures also attempted a motion picture adaptation entitled "Filpper." It starred Elijah (Lord of the Rings) Wood as Sandy Ricks, and Paul (Crocodile Dundee) Hogan as Porter Ricks. Interestingly, Luke Halpin, the original Sandy Ricks, had a bit part as a fisherman.

Her trainer Ric O’Barry was called in and Kathy soon died in his arms. According to O’Barry, Kathy was depressed due to the unnatural conditions of captivity and forced herself to stop breathing. He ruled the death a suicide since dolphins are known for their high intelligence and self-awareness. Shook by this experience, O’Barry left the animal entertainment industry to start the Dolphin Project and continues to dedicate his life to ending dolphin captivity."*
