Telling the truth about why he would demean himself by dressing in drag. Dave Chappelle told us thats how they humiliate men. He refused and was blackballed.

Good God I miss TV from 1960 -90. 70s was best - Perry Mason, Marcus Welby, Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Little House on the Prairie, CHIPs, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, MASH, and on and on and on. I could laugh and cry and not feel guilty. US TV today is all propaganda, nasty, crude, and dumbed down.

I clearly remember that my friends and myself would watch the “Dallas” episode every Friday night before going to the club to party. We’d have a “cocktail” along with “Sue Ellen”. For the final episode “Who Shot JR” ? You could have told us the men of all our dreams was only going to be at the club for the during of the “Dallas” episode and we would have said “What a drag. Oh well”. Poured another glass of wine and/or champagne and watched the show. There was NOTHING on the planet that was going to keep us from watching that last episode. Oh simpler times.

Oh I know! I don’t watch this crap they force down our throats nowadays, and I used to write for TV. Thank God for streaming channels where we can go back to real humor. Comedy in the 70s, for instance, was just funny. We watched as a family then. The content of today’s shows make me SMH.

Think of all the things we remember with a smile, but the last couple of past generations missed so much. I had almost forgot about Dallas. I loved Knots Landing. Now TV is all about “unrealistic, fake reality “ TV. I can’t relate.

When the Dear Wife and I go out, I ALWAYS request "The boof in d'back, in d'corner, in d'dark." Some people crack up -- others act like they seen a zombie.

Flip took the Milton Berle shtick to a whole another level and dominated that style of comedy! Geraldine was the most outstanding part of Flip's show!

My mom still loves Flip. I love all the old shows, comedies. When things were more normal, and people had a sense of humor.

I remember when I was about 4 watching The Flip Wilson Show,that was back when T.V was good from the 70,s to the 80,s when Television shows were good!

Geraldine was the first drag performance I recall seeing as a child. My mother always laughed at drag performances but my father was worried I'd grow up to do the same. My Judy Garland is spot on.

As a little white girl in Southern Illinois, Flip Wilson was my favorite! And now I see he was just as great as I thought he was. Obviously the man liked women a lot, too. And, of course, Geraldine was a favorite.

I really missed these variety shows. 10/21 still watching

She was also on Good Times, The Jeffersons, she played a hooker on All In The Family and her last role was in CSI: Miami. She played an uncredited nurse. She started the West Palm Beach, Florida, Quest Theater and Institute that promotes dramatic training for black children.

Ralph Edward’s clearly ad libbed that line. Wilson wasn’t pleased but ignored it and did not respond to it. This was the 70s and Geraldine was meant to be a woman and not a drag Queen.

I love flip Wilson's Geraldine. We would say his lines to our teachers at school and get in trouble but it wouldn't stop us. So funny.

I loved his talents, he could give you a belly laugh and brighten a dark time. So many of us would like to say a belated thank you, you gave of yourself endlessly and I truly say thank you sir.

Back when people knew if you dressed like a girl you were just kidding. Richard and Flip rocked! RIP guys...and of course Geraldine.

Just look at Geraldine's dress, it's so colorful it speaks for itself, and what about that purse; Flip knows how to make a fashion statement. Attention everybody!

Quiet as it’s kept, Flip’s Geraldine was the predecessor to Martin Lawrence’s Shenehneh and Jamie Fox’s Wanda, The Ugly Girl and perhaps even Steve Urkell’s Myrtle Urkell! So many laughs with this Geraldine skit. CLASSIC!

Richard Pryor & Flip Wilson were something else. Much ♥️♥️ RIP

So, as a little girl growing up on the east side of Detroit in the 1970s, I loved variety shows. And my dad loved Flip Wilson, the Smothers Brothers, and Laugh-In, all of which I was allowed to watch (I was only 3 I think, though, when the SB got cancelled). I loved Geraldine, the way she dressed, the way she acted - she was a role model. I mean at that age, I didn't know what racism was because I treated everyone the same. My folks didn't tell me to hate black people, and they had prejudices themselves - but they never pushed them on me. I still have my dad's copy of "Cowboys and Colored People" and my son loves it.

I sometimes got to watch Laugh In when I was a little kid - even though it was past my bedtime - they screened it on Australian TV. I loved the German Soldier and Goldie (of course) “Sock it to me!”

I got made fun of all the time and we thought it was funny. I was asked what an Italians car tire sounded like when it went flat? It goes "wop wop wop wop" and I was called "lasagna" big deal lol We knew how to take a joke etc. Not today...wow.

back in the early 70's I was bearly a teenager and Flip would stay at his brothers house who was my next door neighbor in San Jose, CA when he was not making tv shows. Flip and my mother were good friends and Flip would have lunches and dinners at my house. Flip was a real nice man, and we enjoyed each other company. Togther we would sit on the front or back porch and talk, tell stories. My mom would sometimes call out the back door Geraldine, its supper time !

Welove Geraldine there will never be another she was absolutely great

Hi there 🙂🌻✌️...I never missed an episode of 'The Flip Wilson Show' ..a very funny man .. I miss him greatly.. . Loved every second watching🙂❤️😍😃..just my humble opinion...Geraldine belongs to Flip Wilson ...👠👒🛍️💅👜💄👗 and only Flip Wilson... He is the original creator of that character 😄.. nobody else would or could do that character Justice like Flip 😄😅😂🤣..😍😘🙏 🕯️🌹. Let Geraldine Rest with him... please...👍👍

J Mason: Yes. You are right. NOBODY could take on the Geraldine Jones character. That definitely belongs only to Flip Wilson. I was thinking of another Geraldine “type” character but I guess Tyler Perry took care of that with his Madea character.

@Kayla: You are right. The one difference between the Geraldine character and Madea is that often I forget that Madea is really Tyler Perry. 😂 Like Madea is really a woman.😂😂

Richard Pryor one of the greatest 💖

Loved the Flip Wilson show. Geraldine was one of my favorites. They just DON'T DO comedy like this anymore.

Flip Wilson Show goes back to my early childhood

What's even better is that I watched this as a 13 year old with my parents on our 19 inch Black and White television.

I remember watching this with my Grandma. Great times.

My parents watched this when I was a small child. And I remember watching with them 😄
