Me too. I remember watching these shows when I was about 6 or 7. My family also had his LP of his classic comedy routines from his tv show. Shaped so much of my appreciation for comedic genius and timing.

I love the way Geraldine enters, love her theme music!!

It just makes me feel good to see Flip Wilson as Geraldine. She is so upbeat, cute, 'fast' and silly lol. On the nights this show came in, I would miss a date if it meant missing The Flip Wilson show once rated the most popular television show ever. My sister took me to see him at our Theater when I was a child...totally hilarious and clean enough for a child to see. RIP Mr. Genius.

Agree agree! Classic dialogue, costumes and really funny meeting of an infatuated American seeing the beauty of the Caribbean. Personified of course by two talented legends. Did you hear her say “ you ain’t that good on the drum unless you get Budd Rich” hahaha

I've always loved it when Flip Wilson did Geraldine. Apparently, my mother did too when she was younger. She told me she used to have a pet rabbit when she was a kid, and she named it Geraldine after Flip Wilson. And it turned out the rabbit was a boy.

Blame low ratings due to a lack of interest among today's TV viewing audience. Sadly, nowadays a primetime TV variety show featuring the talent of today's celebrities in various skits like _The Flip Wilson Show,_ (and many others from the same time period) wouldn't last more than a season.😞

Flip Wilson was a great comedian but he was a genius in making the character Geraldine. He was so good at it that one believed she had her own separate existence.

This is probably the very first comedy I ever knew, and Flip Wilson has lived with me ever since. What great comedy he delivered to us! :)

Beautifully done!! lol Mr. Belafonte is a great entertainer and humanitarian.

Now that's talent....I miss those days!

The funny thing about Geraldine is that she had such a big personality I would always forget that she was really Flip Wilson. She was adorable and her part of the show was always my favorite. Thanks so much for posting these!

I adored Flip Wilson back then. I was a kid and knew "The Devil Made Me Buy that Dress" by heart. I watched Flip Wilson's special every week. The Geraldine character is inspired!

My father adores this song, and I can see why! Thanks Mr Wilson and Mr Belafonte!

Its so sad things have gotten so trashy. I saw a woman today going into grocery store; I whispered to myself, "When did women stop wearing clothes?".
