@@banjoboyk Your welcome and I hope you stick with it. Things change, life gets busy but don't let it sit in a closet and your skills get rusty. May you play so well it pays for a Stelling. We all have our if I had the money to get ... banjo and the Stelling Master crusader would be my pick. After years having elapsed this old foot who loved the outdoors. working hard finds himself broken down and wonders where the first and only banjo went. I took on my three kids when mom went off the deep end in drugs. It was a constant struggle with zero help so take my advise, everything degrades, nothing lasts forever in this world. We are all just passing through and a little music along the way helps, keep playing.

KALEB! I’m so happy that your video appeared (out of nowhere😬) on my timeline! I’m a lifelong musician basically playing progressive Jazz/Rock on keyboards and drums but throughout ALL that time I’ve always kept a few banjos and guitars around just so I could enjoy the freedom of bluegrass! I’d say you put a smile on my face but that didn’t happen til you actually ’smiled’ at the end of your piece🤣🤣🤣 Keep it up cause you have no place to go but UP ⬆️ I’m proud of you 👍

@@banjoboyk Jazz gave me my chops and bluegrass gives me my ROOTS! Hey Kaleb try this one on for size. I’ve been playing jazz/progressive rock twice your lifetime and have played with some big names but as of late I found myself in a rut during rehearsal (every day) so for every day in 2021 I’ve practiced blindfolded🤣 tru! My fingering and my ear thank me tremendously!no more getting my fingers tangled up and no more playing too many notes at once (especially on the piano 🎹) you can always learn something new (I’ve also thrown in some cello to help my pitch. No big names have asked me to play cello for them though🤣🤣🤣🤔)

That's awesome! In this video I'd only been playing for 2 years but I've been playing for almost 7 now. Are you taking lessons? If so who from? Also have you checked out Mason Crone channel or Eli Gilbert's channel? They are great resources for getting started! Also another source you could check out (if you haven't already) would be Banjo Ben Clark's website. He's got hundreds of video lessons and sheet music (written in tablature) to go along with each of them. Welcome to the world of banjos!

I mostly taught myself through banjobenclark.com I understand the no teacher thing, pretty much in the same boat. Ben’s site is hands down the best and the people in his forum are awesome for asking questions and getting help. I did finally finally find a teacher in AK who is teaching me tons through FaceTime but I’ve only been with her a couple of months and I’m working on branching off bluegrass. I also recommend, if you can find them, jam circles. You would be amazed at what you can learn from other musicians.

Hi Shmitty Floors! I actually started out learning this tune from the Scruggs book. But after a while I started playing around with different licks and creating different breaks. At the time I liked how this one sounded so I posted it on KZread. Once you know what the chord progression is start playing around with some different licks that you know and you can come up with some pretty cool breaks. Thanks for checking out my video and if you’d like to please like and subscribe!
