My Condolences for Maximus Zeus. Our smallest one passed this past July she was 13. I'm currently working on a Proto 2000 B&O E8/9 A & B units. Took most of the day yesterday repairing solder joints that were pulled from the pickups. And grease that was sticky as pine sap. Got it all cleaned up and lubed. They run now. The A unit has a squeal when running and rear bogie/truck catches on the body shell on turns. So I still have work ahead of me to try to figure out how to resolve those issues. I think previous owner replaced the drive gears because they are in good shape.

Nice to see you finally got a German train to bring back to life! The new painting really makes it pop. As a side note, the green passenger cars were nicknamed Thunder Boxes. Very sorry to hear about Maximus Zeus...my sympathies. I have a few Fleischmann models and they all run very quiet and smooth. I have a great time running them on the layout. Great job on the restoration and always enjoy your videos!

The Fleischmann 0-6-0 was First available in 1956 and continued in train sets until 1969. It was built to a scale of 1:82 to accommodate the motor. The classification of 89 is correct however the subsequent digits reflect the catalog number and not the prototype which would have started with a 7. The loco is not a switcher but a secondary/ branch line.loco. Fleischmann made a set of Prussian 2 axle passenger cars to completement the loco.

3:24 The warping is caused by deteriorating chemicals in the plastic, and your example is actually in a pretty good state with the cabin being straight and the area around the pin at the rear intact. Some of the plastic model trains from that era are in a very bad state as the plastic shrinks causing terrible warping of thin areas

Ive been coming across the European locos a bit more in the last few months. A few Fellers have pointed out that Tri-ang. Must be a bit more common than I'm aware of.

@@classicmodeltrainsI don't know if I'd say common, so much as I would say its somewhat iconic. Typically the ones I see for sale are the more modernized versions since it did eventually get a re-release under hornby's main range a couple times, before being put in the "budget" Hornby Railroad line.

with the numbers on the engine, the 89 refers to the class number, sorta like the British engines ( actually i think it's like that for everywhere except for North America). it was meant to pull freight, but i think they look better like you did, pulling short passenger cars. Great job getting it running, that was a real piece of work. Sorry to hear about the passing of your dog. just remember all the good times you had together.

Awww, Ron, I’m sorry you lost your doggie buddy. I lost mine decades ago and just couldn’t replace him...ever. Ya did a swell job fix that Fleischman loco. Good for you. Got a question for you, though, what are those green post it notes on the shelving behind your head? They sure distracted me every time you did a body shot of yourself. Best wishes and sorry for your loss.

Thank you 13th, My female is pushing 9 and after her no more for me also. Too hard on a Feller. The green post it notes are for when I add new loco's to the display, I write down manufacture, part#, road #, Engine model and manufacture, then when I get 6 of them I make up those fancy signs that are under all the loco's.

Amazing restoration! You deserve an honorific after your name (could not find your last name) i.e. Ron Smith, M.W. (Miracle Worker). You've earned it! Also, really classy way to honor Zeus - slow fade to black. I'm sure you feel the loss deeply, as we have lost a couple of little pals over the years & still love them & talk about them every day.
