I had a flatdeck driver the other day wait until I pulled up in the forklift to hop out of his truck and unstrap. Could've easily had it done while he waited for me now he's putting me behind schedule. Boy was I annoyed. I agree, loading and offloading wheb drivers are still in their cab, and a lot of times I'll wait for them to get out. I'm pretty seasoned with a forklift at this point and don't need a spotter but it's still nice to have someone keeping an eye, shit happens and we all know blindspots in some of those bigger forklifts are a nightmare. I've also had drivers get out after I loaded and insist half of the load be rearranged for other customer pickups. Nope, kick rocks, you had 20 minutes to get out of your truck and tell me that.

@trucking4racecars

I don’t do it but guys definitely should. Not denying that. It saves time and I’m so use to not doing it because of the multiple drop I usually have. And if you don’t bungy them they’ll be hanging 99% of the time they don’t move when I leave them on the deck.

After you tighten the binders, what are you doing when you're hitting the chains? Helping them to settle?
@trucking4racecars
5 ай бұрын
Oh! Great question! Some times depending on how the load lays out or how the beams are, they’ll make the chain link stick at the edges. So alot of times when you hit the link it will free up the slack in the chain. People not knowing that and go down the road without checking chains.. most of the time when I get to my destination all my chains are still just as tight as when I left!

Load fell off the side whilst in transit, killed the banksman alongside.
Seen you out at Ritzville few weeks ago.
Whats your camera set-up?
I did flat bed for several years. I liked it. You also got to think about the liability of someone getting hurt while getting and off your truck
fresh graduate thinking of going flatbed route
just quit my job as a telehandler loading flatbed trucks with steel just like in the video, awesome job but I was looking for a rock truck job or something less stressful.
As a new flatbed driver, I've been to a lot of customers that won't allow you to stand outside while load or unload

Hey, I noticed that you don’t roll up your chains. I’m in Australia, most truckies (Aussie truckers) here have small buckets that hold one chain but some of us (myself included) prefer to roll them. I find it easier and quicker when pulling them out next time I need them.
Good video homie

The videos are very informative. Question about not wrapping chain around binders after you have locked them down. Please go easy on time lapsing of binding. It's an important step on load securement.

I don’t do it but guys definitely should. Not denying that. It saves time and I’m so use to not doing it because of the multiple drop I usually have. And if you don’t bungy them they’ll be hanging 99% of the time they don’t move when I leave them on the deck.
Sir, you have a light out. ;-)
what's the color code for the truck I have a very similar color on my motorcycle and truck
After you tighten the binders, what are you doing when you're hitting the chains? Helping them to settle?

Nice rig, but no flatbeds for me. Rgn trailers only!

Great 360 shots, I don’t like wearing a gopro on my head. It’s a little bit annoying, but sometimes you have to for a greater shot inside the cabin 👍🤝

I kinda miss flat bedding but I also kind of don’t. Hauling fuel is my niche.

Hauling fuel looks cool but scary! I guess everything can look scary when you’re not fully knowledgeable about said subject.. maybe one day I’ll get under a tank

It took me a minimum of 3 month to start to get comfortable with it. I stay within Portland most of the time so I know the traffic patterns and deliver to the same 40 different locations so it becomes a comfortable routine ish job.
makes me wanna buy a long nose pete of my own lol
Why don’t you have the metal cage on the cab I was always told it was safer just incase if your load goes flying forward into the cab for whatever reason
