Flat Sided Vase

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We all know Tim is a cheapskate and he proves it in this video. He shows you how to use almost every part of an Olive Wood blank by leaving two of the sides flat. Then he shows you how to speed hollow the vase.
You can find the Elbo Hollowing Tool, Tim’s Tools and instructional DVDs on the Woodturning with Tim website: www.woodturningwithtim.com
Robust Lathes: wtwtim.com/robustlathes.htm
I am a Robust dealer (which adds nothing to your costs) and I am more than happy to help you pick out and configure your new lathe.

One of my first sponsors on PBS. They make excellent replaceable carbide cutter turning tools.

Tim, your videos have been a favorite of mine for years, and a few months ago, I bit the bullet and bought my first lathe! It's been the most rewarding hobby I've ever gotten into, and I doubt I would've done it without your inspiration. Thanks for every video you make!

Nicely explained, Tim. At first glance it looks easy-peasy but you are so right. Get those centers off from the beginning and the whole thing would be a mess. You just can't go wrong with Olive wood and your sanding and finish really paid off in a beautiful finished piece! Phil

Beautiful. Thanks for mentioning that your bits were “very” hot; it’s not the turner doing something incorrectly but the nature/hardness of the substrate.
