But the last few months I have watched my skills show up more and more everyday. Now, instead of focusing on the things that are slowing me down. I went to a high school that let you get professional certificates along side the diploma and I recommend it to everyone that has the opportunity. I didn't have any support in going to university so I used my cosmetology wages to pay out of pocket for engineering school and was eventually recruited by NASA (but am now making wigs for Barbie dolls... life sure is funny sometimes). Please also study up on the labor laws of your state. Cosmetologists are one of the most heavily exploited workers. I think some investigations have even found that human trafficking in the salon industry is even more prevalent than in the companionship industry! I left thousands upon thousands of dollars on the table early in my career due to wage theft I didn't know was wage theft. In addition to seeking out masters of the craft for mentorship, also reach out to your local labor solidarity organizations (sadly, cosmetology is STILL not unionized... one of only a handful of "skilled trades" that is not 😢). They can probably send someone in to the class for a seminar on your rights and employer responsibilities. Really, that's a good idea in general for all your classmates. Yall are about to enter a workforce that's INCREDIBLY hostile to the workers. I hope you'll enjoy cosmetology if you go down that path. I really can't recommend it enough! 💖

I love this! Not just the hair technique but the pep talk too. Both were fabulous! 😍
Ahhh I stumbled upon this and it’s def not in my algorithm but it’s exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you
My toxic trait is thinking I could try this on myself before school tommorrow and not have to worry about it going poorly because I have seen this one (1) success story 😂
TRUE!! I’m getting into sewing purses for a side hustle and even though I’m crafty I never liked using a sewing machine. But the last few months I have watched my skills show up more and more everyday. Now, instead of focusing on the things that are slowing me down. I keep going and remaking them until they are just about perfect. I spent about 12 hours, up all night making straps over and over until I had two that where accurate enough. I’m exhausted!! 😅
I love that message at the end! ❤
I really needed this tonight. Thank you!
That looks awesome 😊❤
There’s a rhythmic pattern to your movement and the great wave at the end has a lovely time signature.
This is exactly what I need to keep hearing constantly. I'll be rewarching this. I've been saying, "done is better than perfect," and "perfect is the enemy of good." This is the cherry on top. Thank you for sharing this. I'm a recovering crippling perfectionist. (Edit: had to add that missing apostrophe. *breathe*)
That's awesome. I had my hair like this for my wedding and it definitely took longer doing it the way we did.
thank you so much for making these videos. i just found this channel like 5 minutes ago, and it’s super helpful. i’m a sophomore in high school and i’ve been thinking about applying to a different high school that allows me to graduate with my cosmetology degree. this has helped me make my decision on wether or not to apply. Thank You!!❤

Thank you so much for sharing the whole growth! Such positive and authentic content. Bless you! Love it
I LOVE seeing progress. Makes me appreciate the bad part about learning something new.
This!!! Would love a full tutorial on what worked well!😊
Marcels make the best waves. Man, I miss those
And TY for practicing all those attempts on a mannequin's head instead of a paying customer's hair lol
My favorite quote was from my middle school vice principal. Good better best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best
That's really beautiful old 1940s style!
❤GOOOOOOD TO BADASS. YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION. I almost quit cosmetology school but one of your videos I came across 2 1/2 years ago and made me realize keep going trial and error and that there's 1000's of ways to do one thing. YOU ARE MY REASON I SHOULD BE GRADUATED BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2024
“I don’t want to be good, I want to be CONFIDENT” ooooh girl this is so great
That babyliss hair iron is everything! So so good!!
Back in our days, we had a crimp iron interchangeable wave plates.
Thank you for this reassurance… I got some not so good news today and been feeling UGH!! You did good ❤
The most BEAUTIFUL style 🙌
Looks beautiful! ❤
I LOVE THESE CURLS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TUTORIAL IVE SEEN ON THEM
The 1930s style coming back! Yes! Nice work!
Love the positivity 🥺🥹🥰
the way i have accidentally done this technique when trying to get looser waves. It always looks so choppy so i dont do it much but this was a very cohesive tutorial on how to do it more effectively. defo trying this again
Flat iron finger waves?! This just blew my mind!
I needed this. Thank you❤
Wish I would have heard this when I was in cosmo school. I graduated and got my license but have since quit hair. Still keep renewing my license to use the beauty shops though 😂
As a man who does not straitened my hair, the smoke coming off that iron is alarming and I would imagine cannot be good for human hair. A salute to anyone who goes through this.
beautiful job! you learn fast and I love the message! ❤ inspired me to try hard today to do the things I want to!
Nice technique!!!! Definitely trying that!!! Thanks!!!!
THAT'S THE FASTEST MOST PERFECT AND SMARTEST FINGERWAVE 🥰
This made me feel better going into my new job today which has been stressing me lately since I’ve been worried I’m not good at it yet.. definitely meant to hear this rn so thank you for posting ♥️
this is the best way to pick up new skills
This is how I used to do waves in my hair in high school when I couldn’t afford to get a wave iron.
As an old teacher of mine said: don't practice until you get it right but practice until you can't get it wrong
Whoa! When I went to beauty school we did finger waves with gel and our fingers! I love this technique!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Kinda feel better about that mini pep talk at the end thanks!
You are an artist!!🎉🎉🎉
Damn those waves look good! I need this in my life immediately.
I like that quote. I will keep it in my heart. ❤
Great job! I’ve had relaxers, texturizers and I’m now natural and I still don’t know how to care for my hair in any state. Makes me want to go to cosmetology school just to learn how to..😊
This is literally the technique that lady’s maids were using in the 1920s. Lol I’m glad you rediscovered it.
Turned out nicely! 💯
Wow this technique is insane in the good way 😍
Also never forget PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT so keep at it!! Love this :)
needed to hear this today! thank you!
This goes for all artists, creatives and people trying something new! Keep going, i know it's really frustrating not getting it the first time, but noone does, you have to keep your learning curve going!
For people who are interested in the straightener, it looks like a BabylissPro Optima 3000. It’s a wonderful product ! Just be careful, it heats on the inside and the outside !
Its like the one song "Im not very good at this, that's why I'm practicing" on tiktok
I JUST learned how to use a clamp curling wand last night. Never had any success. I was SHOCKED. It turned out so good
Lmfao. For a minute I’m like ma’am you can’t be doing that to somebody head that many times in a row. Talk about heat damage. Then my brain woke a up and realized that it was a mannequin. 😂😂😂
honestly it’s not even related to hair and stuff but this gave me some sort of confidence to keep animating stuff even though I’m not amazing at it now :)
Great job! Practicing can be so monotonous but it’s really worth it in the end ❤
Lord , we need more stylist like this ❤
I love that style
Gorgeous!
Doing finger waves is really easy the original way. But you made it work! It's awesome!! And that way you don't have to use a sh!t ton of gel!
wow great results!! hair looks stunning! love your advice at the end, made my night! blessings ❤
Finger waves have to be my most favorite hairstyle
Damn I needed that inspo thanks
I’ve always wanted this style
My Motto from now on. Thank you!
I love it❤❤❤ great job!!
You are slaying it.
I’m bad before I’m good …and good before I’m bad. ❤
Thank you for the inspiration, the message applies to everything in life🥂
In the words of Jake from adventure time, "sucking at something is the first step to being sorta good at something"
Thanks for the message love keep up the good work ❤️
You discovered experience and learning. Congratulations
“You’re bad before you’re good, you’re good before you’re great, and you’re great before you’re fucking awesome” As someone who likes to give up on things easily because I’m either not good at them or can’t get the hang of it easily, I needed to hear this. And now I get the urge to color in my coloring book, because it’s been helping me get the hang of blending colored pencils
Great lesson that we are all beginners!!
Amazing attitude!! 👏👏👏
Curling irons everywhere “WE EXIST”
