    THIS IS A LIFE SAVER. I’m pigeon toed and have flat feet. It would cause pain in my hips and up and down my legs. Unbearable after a few hours on my feet. And I’m only 25 😭 BUT after doing this for a few days just like you showed I have reduced like all my pain! I guess it forces me to walk differently since my arches are being pulled. Even after 10 hours on my feet I wasn’t experiencing any of the pain I normally felt! Going to save me years of pain and probably a surgery or something. And all thanks to you and some Tape I got at Lidl!

    Hello. I just ran across your taping video and was completely in a trance while watching it. I battled colon cancer for 2 years and was not looking forward to the possibilities of having surgery on my foot because of the arches. I've been down for so long I didn't want to go through everything else I was going to keep me down. I'm convinced and tomorrow I'm going to go buy the tape and I will keep you posted. There's nothing like being able to live again and do what I want to do at age 62. So thank you

    The only real answer ever is listen to your body, everyone is unique. So try both ways and whichever works best for you is the way to go. Just be aware that the body may adapt so you may need to take breaks from taping or edit one out from time to time. Thanks for your question!

    I have had reunions on both feet from wearing fashionably wrong shoes as a teen. The big toe has turned inward, causing a Hammertoe on 2d toe. Had surgery on right foot abt 10 yrs ago, and wasn't informed of how long & painful recovery was; 3 months for me. A few months ago, the left foot began to hurt under the 2d toe when I arose each morning. Couldn't get a dr appt until hammertoe began showing. Was hoping to get a shot (like trigger fingers) to fix, but was told not effective with plantar tear. Instead was given orthotics recommendations with a splint. It got worse, infected and treated with ice & foot elevations over the holidays. Then I ran across your video today! Next appt is less than a week away, and I know Dr will want to do surgery! I cannot see me with 3 months down-time at age 76, so II am going out to find mobility tape, etc and use with larger shoes prescribed to see if it can be avoided. Thanks so much for your inspiration!! Will get back to let you know. Maybe order more tape for arthritic fingers.

    Thanks for vid will do the arch support. What is the second one supporting?

  • @NorthernSoul

    @NorthernSoul

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the comment! The first taping supports longitudinal arch, which is the arch you see on the inside of the foot. this is the common one associated with flat foot. The second tape is for transverse arch which is the arch created by the metatarsals and is perpendicular to the transverse arch. both are used together to create structure and suspension of your body weight when the body is erect. If you can visually see you have no arch on the inside of the foot then you should use the first taping, but also try the second one with the first to see if it helps you even more. With taping, there is a bit of experimenting, but trust what you body tells you. I hope that helps!

  • @NorthernSoul

    Hi Christine! I hope you enjoyed the video. Personally I would use the taping with orthotics, as I usually treat the tape the same as if it's not really there. You'll know if it's not appropriate if it becomes uncomfortable or painful. The bottom line is always trust the body telling you. Thanks!

    How much plantar flexion can you achieve with the taping like you did on your right foot? Would this cause any irritation for a ballet dancer who has to point her foot a lot in one class?

  • @NorthernSoul

    @NorthernSoul

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the question. You can achieve full plantar flexion with this tape, or kinesio taping in general. The point of it is to still have mobility. Irritation is always a concern with taping generally speaking. I would try the taping as is for class and see how it goes. You can adjust the tape stretch to your needs from 25%-75%. In this case you'll want to start at the more aggressive stretch 75% and back off the 50% if needed, and even down to 20% as it still works at this level.You will just get less arch support. so it's a trade off of comfort / support. So try it, and if it feels itchy or hurts more with the aggressive tape stretch , stop and take the tape off, do not retape for a few days 2-3, then reapply with less stretch and try again. You'll find your perfect balance for you. Be aware different brands stretch differently. check out my tape comparison videos (2) since this may also help you choose the right tape for you! Good luck and keep dancing!

I also suffer from flat feet and the same time I like to run, dance and I hate the orthotic insoles as they are never comfortable and it hurts me even more when active. I am planning to try taping, but I couldn't find any comparison of the effect from taping vs. orthotics and which one is better. Could you comment on that? Also how taping effects the weakened mussels in the ankle? Can it help for permanent fix?

    Question: I suffer from multiple of these issue and wonder if I can combine the different taping methods ... I am flat foot, have bunions and a crooked big toe I see you made three different videos but can I combine them to fix my whole foot at once?

  • @NorthernSoul

    @NorthernSoul

    6 жыл бұрын

    you can combine the taping within reason. If you have too many layers of tape, the top layers may not be effective or hinder the base layers. I usually get creative in blending tapes, by shortening tapes or using one tape in the place of two to make a continuous piece altering stretch as needed. It takes an understanding of how the tape works, what it's doing and biomechanical as well as anatomical understanding of the body being taped. You can find an example of a combined tape as I treat planter fasciitis with a custom taping that involves a few typical problem areas that cause it. check out that video as it may give you and idea.

    Looks like the general consensus is that for too much foot arch, it's about supporting the arch, and cushioning the ball of the foot and the heel. Other than that I'm not sure what you can do about it. There are shoe inserts for this condition as well as stick on arch ramps, that stick directly onto your arch for support. Or maybe just wear crappy shoes like everyone else that loses their arches!

    The stickiest tape I know of is RockTape H2O. It's designed for wet/sweaty use. Extra sticky adhesive. Here's a link to my tape testing of different brands kzread.info/dash/bejne/p59n1bawpN2ZqpM.html

    Dishwashing liquid or hand soap will get rid of the glue...or a oxygen acetylene flame at 3000'C will not only rid you of the glue it will also sterilize the scissors...well at least what's left of em!. 😁

    Really good, thank you. Your accent is very strange though - mostly Irish but sometimes I swear you turned American, then Australian, and then even a spot of New Zealander! Maybe I’m going mad....

    Mine are completely on the floor and the whole inside of my foot has collapsed. The pain goes right the way up my body to my mid back. I'll give it a try. It WILL NOT fix it without surgery but it will probably be a help

    Taping was good but the extra chatting wasnt helpful when you are trying to tape yourself at the same time.

    Arch support is for people with arches! Get it arch support! If you have flat feet, no arches, there’s nothing to support. You have no arch. You don’t need arch support da!!!😂
