Love the video... I like to switch up methods based on different ice conditions and situations... Torch vs mounds / or even areas due to snow build up or crazy weather.. it’s my main repair tool, just be careful along your boards if your tarp/plastic sheeting is exposed. Extra trick with the torch, if you have a lil helper with a mop they can follow you where you have melted the ice and help distribute the water from the melting. I find that this really helps that next level finish.. Homboni for regular maintenance with great level ice Garden hose for small flooding or minor re-leveling... Like any artisan, different tools of the trade help keep your ice as “Glassy” as it can be... I tell you this from Sioux Falls, South Dakota where our weather is up and down.. very inconsistent but always seems to be at extremes...

Hey Jeremy, I was able to master the smooth surface over the years. The last few with the rink I had glass every time. The biggest trick, (you covered most everything else) is that I always shovelled it off followed by clearing any residual snow with a push broom. This cleared all "impurities" (impurities meaning snow, small chunks of ice etc.) then flooded with my homemade zamboni (similar to yours) with full hot water. Glass. Every time.

so i got a pond in the back that is larger than that small rink. i had to go overkill. i have a garden tractor with a snow blower attachment on the front. i pull a harbor freight trailer behind it which has a 55 gallon drum for water. i insulated it, also installed a outdoor propane shower heater to recirculate the water and keep it hot. behind it i made a resurfacer like the one you have out of pvc and a towel. the next solution i am trying is to make some kind of dump system like one of those huge buckets at a splash park to be able to flood the ice with huge amounts of water in one shot, with a large volume of water it will spread evenly fast.
