I've always felt like flamethrowers and shotguns get the shaft on range in games. like flamethrowers had a range of a good 50 feet, not the like 10-20 that you see in most games.

The M2 flamethrower with Napalm fuel and the right pressurization could shoot upwards of 80 m. With gasoline easily 20-30 m. And it with thickened fuel or oil like they used in the first world war you can angle the fire like a mortar into enemy positions without exposing your soldiers

its is even irl in the first world war the flame yhrower was the most feared weapon on the battlefield people ehent insane for even hearing the hissing sound of the gas but it made the flame troopers pretty much the number 1 target on the battlefield if ever spotted in ww2 they where also feared but less used some where evrn set on tanks but the most feared in ww2 was probably the MG42

my favourite game flamethrowers are ones that make it feel like you're shooting out an actual stream of napalm, not a cloud of fire.

I should confidently say that Far Cry, especially 4, is at the top tier. It would be the best if 4 had black smoke effects added to the flames... that would've been insane

Flamethrowers Where ALWAYS my favorite weapon to this day... I love them when they make them Look Cool in games, but looks are only 50% of what determines if they are Fun to use... because i care about Animations as well... IMO The whole fun of using Flamethrowers is to Set your enemies on fire and SEE THEM BURN... thats why, even if we get a cool Flamethrower but no death animations for me it feels like the weapon is just half baked...

Funny most games seem to have the idea that flamethrowers can only reach 5 feet in front of you. While old US army flamethrowers can shoot effectively 20 meters and had a max range of 40 meters. Edit: just verified through wiki

I would assume flamethrowers have some recoil in real life? I once heard that they do, rather like the push of a garden hose.

Great video! How did you get the flamethrower in the COD United Offensive clip?

RTCW Is still one of my favorites, but the one Im missing are Red Faction 1, and to a lesser extent CC Renegade.

All this time, I thought the flamthrower was never used in FPS games. I just forgot about deadsapce...that was the only FPS game I played that had a flame thrower and I forgot about it. Damn, stamping on corpses is now a thing I wish would happen in more FPS games.

It is a glorified blow torch. Flame throwers are designed to spew out lit napalm. Pyro's "flamethrower" just emits a large propane flame.

World At War's Flamethrower and Day of Infamy's Flamethrower are the best ones for me!

Battlefield 1 and alien isolation has the best out of them all. Alien had the most "pretty" and realistic flames. Probably my preference out of the lot Battlefield just got it sounding terrifying, feeling realistic and looking it.

Many games forget about napalm(a modified liquid to gain weight and maximum distance and spread when ignited) and just have a very watery based fuel. For example Rising storm 2 did a very good and accurate representation of a flamethrower, instead of the flame just vapourising away. And for all those annoying TF2 fanboys, u could merely argue the Pyro flamethrower is not a flamethrower because its such an inaccurate representation of a flamethrower, along with the fact there are over hundreds of different variants, therefore its an acceptable reason for it not being on the list.

Day of infamy and far cry 4 by far the best ones. Btw, i saw too much cod and bf fanboy in the comments
