As a Buckinghamshire resident, I can say that the chained swan is because all swans in the UK belong to the monarch, and the chains represent this royal connection. Buckinghamshire has this on their flag because traditionally we kept many swans for the monarchs

Not all swans. Just the unmarked mute swans can be claimed by the monarch if they wanted to. The Bucks swan is not referencing that law though. It’s just referencing the fact that historically county bred swans for royalty

Not objectively, however, from their own perspectives, it isn't too complicated to imagine how each of them would appear to be the videos first viewer. Simply having them all load the youtube page on which this video appears before the others have clicked it, will show it as having zero views, and considering it takes a few seconds to comment on a video, and the average reaction time is in the hundreds of milliseconds, it's not too absurd to also have three people click on a video and see no other comments. While youtube's views and likes do now update live, from the viewpoint of anyone who has clicked a video with no views, it will cause it to appear that everyone is watching after you, as the numbers begin to tick up. It seems like you should start thinking before you comment. (I said this ironically, please don't typecast me as a personification of the nerd emoji 😭)

Yes, every Marylander gushes over their flag. I’m a transplant here, and they certainly go crazy for it. That design is on everything from swimsuits to magnetic crabs slapped on the back of their cars. I’ve seen it made into a hoodie, and it’s actually not bad.

I searched a bit for the first flag that appeared (0:01) and, *apparently,* it's one of the flags of the Houseflags of Norwegian maritime companies, more especifically, the S.M. Kuhnle & Son. Bergen flags (the S.M. Kuhnle and the Son. Bergen flags are technically the same)

The Vatican City flag error reminded me that the Ordnance Survey in the UK put deliberate errors in their maps to detect copyright infringements. I'm sure most people here have watched the Map Men video on it!

7:30 I think a lot of the backlash there has been to modern flag redesigns in recent years is because flag enthusiasts have taken the NAVA principles of flag design far too literally. NAVA's "Good flag, bad flag" actually says that these principles are GUIDELINES, not absolute rules, i.e. a flag does NOT have to follow all of these principles to be a good flag. (Seychelles, for instance, uses more than 3 colours, yet it is a PHENOMENAL flag!) To me, what these 5 principles of good flag design ultimately boil down to is that a flag should (1) be easily recognizable, and (2) represent its jurisdiction well (meaningful symbolism)

The flag of Russia actually is inspired by the flag of The Netherlands. Tsar Peter the Great lived in The Netherlands for a while (to study Ship making among others). He was impressed with the Dutch flag and wanted a similar one for his own country. When he returned to Russia he took a Dutch flag with him and had his tailor alter the flag. He cut off the red band from the top and sewed it back onto the flag at the bottom...
