FJ45 Landcruiser Restoration | How to Install a Landcruiser 79 Tub onto your 40 Series | Episode 17

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Jafffa Adventures continues the 40 Series Landcruiser restomod series.
The restoration of my Toyota Landcruiser FJ45 continues. In my last video, I fitted a Landcruiser Prado fuel tank to my FJ45, including a Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump so that I was one step closer to starting the engine up.
In this episode I tackle the rear tub. Specifically, I install a Landcruiser 79 Series rear tub to the FJ45. The reason this was next on my modification list is that I would like to fit twin exhaust stacks and I need the position of the rear tub to allow for this.
This is the 17th video in this Landcruiser restomod series, so if you have found this topic interesting I suggest you check out the other videos.
The full series can be found in my Landcruiser 40 series playlist.

I’ve got to say Terry that is one hell of a brilliant job you’ve done there. Your logic is spot on and the whole thing will end up looking stock standard. Great work mate!

I love your attention to detail with this build, right down to the cut and shut of the little panels that will essentially serve no purpose but they just look spot on. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks Shane, I appreciate the kind words mate. I tried to just weld the front headboard back on without the little panel cut and shut but my OCD took over and I just couldn’t do it. I’m sure I’ll be glad in the end but those little suckers almost took as long to do as the whole tub😂. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍

Yep! sometimes we learn the hard way (I've done that a lot!). Me personally for bodywork, I use a quality 2 pack sealer (PPG), then a compatible filler & then the 2 pack primer surfacer (PPG). The sealer should always be left in tact when sanding the filler, isolating the steal as the filler in time will sweat & then rust on the steel even though it is sealed under paint (I'm talking over years, but don't ask me how I know) Unfortunately the paints I use, the sealer must be coated within 24 hours or it needs to be reapplied for adhesion reasons (be it for filler or primer). If you break through the sealer to steel when sanding, then it has to be reapplied. At least the sealer, filler & primer are all different colours. Thinking I'm liking the build idea, I will go back to the start to catch up. I Built an FJ40 with a 308 some 25 years ago when I lived in S.E. Qld, I loved that truck! Thanks for another entertaining video!!

Thanks for the kind words and the advice Rod, I sincerely appreciate it. Sounds like your 308 powered 40 would have been awesome. I trust you will find some entertainment value in this build, if not there are plenty of better builders than me out there creating content. Go well mate.

@@JafffaAdventures it's not necessarily the better builders being out there, we all face that but the important thing is we all have a go! & Of course, like you... Have fun along the way! 👍 I'm lucky with a few skills, but like I mentioned, I've also made plenty of Blues over the years too! 😵‍💫 Yes, while I used to own & run a Resto/Hot Rod Shop there are many other skills I wish I had. Ya never stop learning. I just wish I could afford to retire, I'd be busier than ever! Keep up the great content mate, it's great stuff! 👍 (Plus I miss Qld. 😉)
