This kit is my next big purchase for the fj. Night and day difference when driving off road doing steep downhill and fuel savings on the highway and transmission longevity. It's a no brainer to add this to every auto fj

We are in Ohio, and the Nomad Valve Body came from Cruiser Brothers

My concern is down the line is there room for a S/C intercooler to go in beside it?

You can easily remount the transmission cooler, down the road, The engine cooler , is supplied by rubber hoses, not expensive at all to buy new hoses. Plus the modification should be done before the supercharger IMO.

We will see, We have a supercharger intercooler installed and we are installing the transmission cooler now , check out Part 2 to find out.

Used one on my FJ and one on the Tacoma.. Hayden Automotive 678 Rapid-Cool...

What was the miles on the transmissions when you installed, and how many miles on them now, Have you had any issues with either transmission, and what is the service performed. This will help us get an idea of how effective you think the transmission coolers are.

@@UpintheAir.stream ...the FJ is a 2008..I put transmission cooler on before the Alaska trip in 2011, after the warranty ran out with 50,000. I now have 150,000 on the FJ.. Can't honestly say with confidence that the transmission Temperatures lowered..Have no way of taking measurement's..I though that the scan gauge could measure the fluid temps but apparently not.. I live in Tucson and 4wheel a lot with a trailer now..

Can confirm it runs cooler. Installed it on my 2011 (don't know the mileage when. 170 or earlier) if you do it right (transmission to radiator to cooler) then of course it'll cool it more. 269k currently on the fj (heavy off-road use involved) and it still shifts smoothly

I put a Hayden 679 after 4000 miles from showroom. The reason is I live in a tropical country where peak afternoon temps get to 35c max. The maximum rise I would see in my ATF pan temps via my Torque app and OBDII would be around 100c and in hills doing slow climb behind traffic around 115c max that me me truly uncomfortable. After the install of cooler my max temp in hills slow or hard driving is no more than 75 to 80c and same goes for stop and go traffic. I recommend this mod fully. Shift quality in traffic improved drastically as well. I intend to do a drain and fill on the tranny every 30000km so even for those who don't intend to tow, I thoroughly advise the transmission cooler especially if you have heavier aftermarket components as well as bigger tires.
