I've got one of those Tyco Bicentennial Spirit of America and it runs great after I worked on it. I even made small wood chunks to go in the tender since that was in the era of wood burning 10 wheelers. The real wood looks 100% better than that fake wood. If I remember I changed out the magnets on that Pittman motor to rare earth magnets. Made a HUGE difference in current draw and now it will "creep" around the tracks. Cheers from eastern TN

It's a Mantua/Tyco. That was the brown box era. The drive is classic Mantua, but the plastic shell leans toward Tyco. Mantuas usually had the cast metal boilers and cost a lot more. You also bought Tyco's at Sears and ToysR'us. The Mantua's were more in the hobby shops.
All You need to Get is A ton of engines to work on. And Yes I will find that Engine Soon.
Funny, I pulled mine out today because I got a new box for it! And this video comes up in my suggestions 3 hours later? 🤔
I would have torn down the motor totally to throughly clean it out
If it doesn’t turn around the bends it’s because of the front bogey, it may not be facing in the right direction. Why not trying to give this engine some DCC decoder and sound?
Do you think it would be possible to install a Seuthe smoke unit into these? I´m asking myself this question because I´d like to have a Mantua 4-8-0 which is basically the same model but just with 4 drivers instead of 3, so....
