Little tip for removing the chainring with the reverse thread. Use a chain whip for a cassette to hold the chainring while you undo the fastener 👍
Great work Rob! A worthy cause to support too. It's a pity that the bike's a XL or else I'd be putting in a bid. In the past I've been a bit 'meh' about emtb's, however, after today's ride on familiar trails where I spent a great portion of it it on a borrowed Liteville 301ce, I've got a new found respect for their abilities.
Fair play to you Rob for doing this for a good cause
Great job!!! I hope your sponsors appreciate the exposure! It looks amazing!
I’ve never been into the new dream bike video where no one talks. This was satisfying to see a well used bike being refreshed. Good job!
Thanks for letting us get invovled Rob! A really great cause!! 💓
Kudos to you Rob, what a great thing to do👍
Someone's timing stuff for watching during love island 🤣 genius move.
Great build and great cause Rob. Nicely done sir!
Great content! Rob, you are one step ahead. Cheers! 👍
Superb video Rob. I learned a lot from this. One worry, though, is the ease with which you took out the lock and battery with just an Allen key! Good for your build but scary for security and protection of a massively expensive battery. With encouragement to cycle more I’d worry leaving my bike locked up anywhere!
Great video and even better cause Rob. Hats off. I’m sure you’ll get more than 1k in donations.
Rob, your videos are just the next level!
Brilliant stuff rob !! Stunning bike 🥵I run the 6.9 jam ebb great bikes 👍🏻 keep up the good work 👌🏻.
Nice work! I bought the same Jam2 6.9 after watching your review on 2021. Still looks brand new and performes perfectly 🥰👍🏁

Very cool! Great job on giving back!
Rob, I have same bike in my work shop just now )) And yes plastic headset cups r bad. As well as stem cable route which catches all dust inside 🤦.. Thanks for the video!
Excellent work and cause Rob!
I donated through thier website. Really enjoyed the video, I got my first emtb last year and this really showed me I can make it last a long time with a refresh.

was great to see that bike come back to life
Superb vid, I totally enjoyed all the way through. Could you please list the parts you used in headset / stem area? I have a Jam2 7.9 and will be converting the headset form stock internal cabling to external.
Indeed better than new, congratulations!
Shut up and take my money. Thank you for introducing me to the world of eMTB. You don't even realize how you changed our habits. Every holiday is now extremely active thanks to eMTB. Thank you Rob!
Great vid Rob 👍🏻
Love your work man
Nice Work
This was really enjoyable to watch!
Woah that bike is such. You did a great job
great bike, what a transformation
Hand built with LOVE !
Love my focus jam 👌🏼👌🏼
I really love this kind of ebikes I wanna buy one to goto college but I am going through a tough time ,lets hope some magic happen .
Idk how someone can neglect this bike, let alone leave it at this state. I'd be shredding this every weekend tbh.
Nice one Rob!
What method were you using to remove the pivot bearings, and what brand is the press? Cheers, and well done for the fundraiser
Brilliant simply brilliant
Can't believe brands are speccing plastic bearing cups on bikes of this weight intended for hard riding. Bonkers! Great build vid tho 🙌🏼
Well done! I just changed out my XT derailleur after I put 20,000+ km on it. I've never had a wear issue like the one you put forth. Weird That bike was pretty torched. Any idea of the mileage it had? Cheers
Removing cog from motor.... Little tip Use cassette holding tool, it work both ways (regardless of thread direction)
Have you got a list of the consumable components you used and where to get them ? Great video by the way
Get well soon 🙏
Such a shame reviewers don't take care of things. I haven't even seen bikes left out in the rain look that bad haha. Great cause btw.
i found a chain whip works well for removing the chainring
Lovely Say Rob do you know of any ebike kits that can really easily be taken on and off a bike? Something like the BiMotal prototype thing - it'd be really handy for things like transporting the bike on the roof and switching to analogue for trails that don't allow ebikes. Thanks!
Well done 🤘How much you habe spend for the parts?
Ey Rob. We need that ⚡️ cap!!!
2023 Super Deluxe Ultimate Air, nice! Do you have any personal experience with those new HBO equipped RS SDU shocks, Rob, air or coil?
Excellent fixup of the bike. I ride the Focus Jam² myself, also my wife has one. What amazes me is the weight of under 23kg - mine weighs in size L and original equipment around 27kg - where can I save so much? I save me the video in any case for the next maintenance, thanks for all the details!

My teenage boys need that bike for a week to teach you what a trashed bike is!!! They broke everything....
why didn't you clean the bike before dissasemby ? what's your oppinion on the welds focus puts in their frames? I have the jam 6.8 and I am dissapointed, in some places it looks like kids welded it.

Shimano chain - I used the old one to resize (just matched the length!)
Do you have the model details of the rear shock? I have the same Focus Jam and thinking of that upgrade after changing forks over to rockshox
You could have used the chain to lock the chainring 👍
Excellent video Rob, I have the same bike and tried fitting a coil with no joy but I also couldn't get the Rock Shox Ultimate to fit but it was a 2021, has the size changed for 2023? They are a great bike, I was going to sell mine this summer and get a new one.

You need to make sure you have the correct eye to eye and stroke length for your exact make and model of bike. Then once you have that you also need the correct mounting hardware to ensure the eyelets fit. Usually the shock manufacturer has the kits, you just need to find the right one which is determined by what shock you use and what make and model of bike you have.
Nice work. Did you have a way to test the battery? I have to assume that it has degraded some what.

Bosch provided a new one. But would definitely be interesting to see how it has held up after a hard life.
On the locking mechanism your missing 2 long black rubber washers which stop the battery moving when locked in. Without them the battery will vibrate the lock apart over time. I know cos I had the same issue which ended with me stopping on a rocky downhill section just in time to catch the battery cover and battery as it fell out my bike 😳

@@RobRidesEMTB what model are they do they have only one or several?
@7:07 should’ve used a chain whip to hold the sprocket in place
I thought you were exaggerating when you said trashed in the title
A lot easier to remove the right crank-arm, if the chain is still on. Or use the left crank-arm as leverage...!!!

Rob the tinkerer strikes back! so fulllfiling to see this kind of "restorations" Ps: This is probably a silly question, but why is not posible to change the rear shock upside down? (Edit) Scratch that, I see that the shock body would touch the linkage
Great cause rob!, however if the bike breaks how are they going to be fixed is my question?

Never...everything is more and more expensive, and the ebike life is rather short. When on sale used, will be a money pit.
Never saw a plastic cup on an MTB before omg 😂 checked mine its AL 😅
Can you buy these ex press bikes to do just what you have done
is there any way i can get or buy that fox fork?
Why did you placed the shock upside down?

Hi Monty, place I got from has now sold out. But try searching “xtr tongue” on google and you should find it!
Rob, are you sure with the weight? I can‘t image this weight for a jam in xl with this specs
I'm halfway the video and I'm thinking: "the joke is on you (me), can't afford a "normal" bike and people on richer countries do that to an e-bike!!". Would bid on it... doubt would get me far though! lolwell, video ended, went to ebay to have a go at it and.... it's already 3 months pay lol impossible to reach. Hope it goes a good price to help the World Bicycle Relief initiative. Cheers from Portugal
That opening segment read like a Chinese bicycle catalogue 🤣
What I find hilarious, is that most people who buy an ebike, just replace it with another. The old one goes on ebay for a dealer to fix up for seconds or scrap for parts.
this is sick but the forks mannn the colour lets it down
Great build. But would have liked to see also some repairs and not just replacements
Just use a chain whip when you are taking off the front chainring 7:04
I would like to buy it how?
Am I missing something with the crank removal... will a crank removal tool not work>
