Went on Holiday to Tuscany in 2022 and stopped at the Tommasini workshop in Grosseto. A very nice Lady (presumably a family member) offered me a tour through their Workshop, which was really great. Also, I ordered an Officina Battaglin Power + in 2018 (back then a pretty traditional rim brake steel frame with "normal" painting). Went down to Italy to pick up the frame and Alex Battaglin (the son of Giovanni) intermitted his lunch break to give me a tour in their workshop in Marostica. I just love these Italian workshops full of tradition, pride and passion! I think if you ask kindly, most of them would show you their workshop and all the details of their work.
So Francis’ Scott Foil didn’t make the list. I wonder why 😂😂😂

It was an interesting take on things. I like that he has an opinion rather than "all the newest stuff".
My favorite bike is the one that I currently own and ride. This doesn’t have to be any specific bike, just the one that is ready to ride anytime I am.
Our local bike shop has one of those Cannondales that belonged to Cippolini on the wall

Not properly cycling related but I think is good to know that Cipollini has got a 3 years suspended sentence for beating and threatening his wife (now ex-wife). Basically a f****ing bastard...
So refreshing to see so many non carbon bikes in the list. I like (and have a) carbon bike but great to see there are real alternatives
Currently putting together a gloss black Time ADHX, so pleased to see that on the list😉
Love that Cinelli Experience. Rim brake Potenza is a very underrated and underappreciated groupset. I have it on my Officina Battaglin San Luca. Oh my, what a bike!
Nice to see my Cinelli experience bike up there. I am very happy with my £150 facebay purchase.
So pleased to see Reilly made the list. Was really fortunate to travel to the UK from NZ this year and take one on a group ride along the South coast! Fantastic bikes, amazing bunch of guys am saving my pennies hard for one of these! 🤩
I respect a man who respects a rim brake bike!

I've got a Ribble Sportive Racing road bike with full Ultegra, the Swiss Stop pads against my Carbon wheels stop even better than my newer road bike with Hydraulic discs (oh & the rim brakes bike weighs less than 7.5kg👌🏻).
Didn't expect to see my bike there, that's a warm fuzzy feeling for sure
Great list. Although I have questions about why all the crashes…🤨. I miss my old Raleigh Super Course. Black, 555 chromoly lugged frame with gold trim. Only cost about $500 back in ‘84. The shop was trying to talk me into some new brand called Trek.
I had a CAAD4 R1000 back in the day. Swapped out the stock wheels for a pair of Ksurium (Elites?) hoops, and it was perfect for about a decade.
I still have a CAAD9 frame in my garage, great bike

Last of the American made CAAD’s. I wish i never sold mine.
Been on a Tripster for 6 years. Many many miles and still as wonderful as ever. Highly recommended
I had this running on the living room TV doing the dishes and almost dropped a plate when I saw that Battaglin. New bike goals.
Years ago I thought of buying a brother mehteh but it was a problem to ship to Chile. It is a lovely frame though and the stroma too.
Thanks Francis , and Nic...
I have a Cannondale CAAD4 R600 that I have put many miles on, including many 100+ mile days. It really is a surprisingly compliant fat-tubed aluminum frame. But currently, my favorite bicycle is the 2020 Ritchey Outback frame I just built up. I love the ease of maintaining the all-external cable routing, and to keep the maintenance easy, I built it with Growtac Equal Mechanical brakes. They are amazing.
@e.con0210
Ай бұрын
Would you say it’s endurance geometry/all day riding or are you a bit stretched out? Im worried Ritchey has more race geometry in general. I’m trying to decide between All -City Cosmic Stallion or Ritchey Outback frame and build from there
@edreilly6674

@@e.con0210 (I've tried this reply a couple of times, so please excuse any repeats!) I would say it is an all-day ride. The stack is a bit lower than I would have liked, but I dealt with that by having 30mm of spacers below the stem and stem with a bit of a rise. The carbon fork with carbon steerer and the longer stays (and the steel tubing, for that matter), make the bike wonderfully compliant and yet it still responds well when climbing. In 1986 I rode across the US on a Trek 700 with 531c Reynolds tubing, carrying 50 lbs and riding 95 miles/day. Granted I was much younger then, but that steel frame was so forgiving, and the Ritchey is the same. Check out reviews on The Bike Sauce and the Path Less Pedaled channels if you haven't already.

Hell yeah! So interesting. I love and ride my Cannondale CAAD4 R400 every week. Modern 2x11 105 groupset, 38cm handlebar & light wheelset make this bike so perfect! It might be more then 20 years old, but rides so beautifully!

Same. Just a great bike. And the smooth welds look better than pretty much anything from today.
Very specific stuff. Not into gravel, but I can appreciate those that he mentioned. A discerning cyclist.
Thanks Nick. Nice run down. I got to see a couple Battaglin bikes at the " Made" bike Expo in Portland, Oregon (USA). They are truly a work of art. I agree, I would hang it on the wall and just star at it.🥰🚴♀️ Maybe Cade Media can cobble together the funds to send Nick to the "Made" bike Expo this year. There were hand made bike builders there from around the world Cheers 🌞🚴♀️🖖
The Mehteh was a surprise! Wasn't expecting to see a frame I'm close to ordering. Part of my motivation was I'm a 15 minute XC ride from their warehouse

Still ride periodically my 1990 Cannondale road, mix Suntour, Dura-Ace, Campy, with Titanium bits. Everyday road/Gravel now 2024 Salsa Warbird. Commuter is 1989 Nishiki Cascade MTB with drop bars, upgrade to 3x9 Shimano Brifters, 2.1 Gravelking tires for 15 mile each way couple days a week. Done bike packing on both Nishiki and Salsa. short tour with Nishiki so far. Not bad at 58. Ready to do more
Gosh a J.Guillem Atalaya, I have now owned one for 14 days in the standard version. A bit pricey, but it's so well made and rides so great plus extra solid, I'll never never never never give it away. And then the Time ADHX frameset in transparent green. I'm going to get this dream frameset at some point to slowly build up a wonderful all-road bike.
this was great!
Look KG 386 campagnolo record 10 speed ❤ I loved it when I bought it 19 years ago and I love it even more now. 🚴♂️😎
My favourite bike is the one I have and have had for 11 years. Bianchi C2C infinito. When I upgrade or replace I will look at a do it all Ti bike with disc brakes and wide tyre clearance. If budget was not an issue a custom Pegoretti with Campy SR rim brake with Bora Ultra wheels would be the dream.
A friend of mine has a Saeco Caad (not sure if it’s the 4 or 5) crazy light but some of the tubes feel like you could dent them by squeezing.
Love Tommasini. Fantastic brand with amazing bikes!
Mate, Officina Battaglin are works of art, always look beautiful. Same with a lot of the Tommasini's to be fair. I ride a CAAD 7 R2000, hourglass stays with the Optimo tubing, hell yeahhhh
Love my ADHX 45.
Question for Nick, what about the Ritchey Swiss Cross bike? Greetings from Poland!
Now that's a list.
I love my Alu Kinesis Aithein Evo. BSA bb, semi internal cables, Shimano 9000 DA including wheels.
Interested in the video on a zero maintenance bike build nick mentioned? Also let's get nerdy about bearings my wheal bearings needs replacing what's the top tip from Nick?
Hi i am from Germany. I like your videos and also watched some chilled build videos. This is where i have seen Kinesis. I am planing to build up a Kinesis GX Race. I am 5‘8.5“ (174 cm) with 32“ (81 cm) inseam. The sizingchart is suggesting a 54cm for me. I think it is a bit too big an would rather think of the 52…. but i am on the upper end of sizing for 54??? Have seen some bikefit videos on your channel what let me even more think 52 would be right. I can‘t testride it first. No Kinesis here in Germany, what is part that i want one 😊 What are yours and Nicks toughts about this. I am thankful for any suggestions.
Any of Colnago's C- Series bikes. And Ritchey - almost any of them. The Logic Road is a great (rim or disc): an affordable, smooth roady; the Outback is a brilliant gravel/adventure bike. All Ritchies are cleverly thought through, affordable steel frames with no BS - bikes for life really. But a great thing about them is how light they are for steel: My XL Outback running Ekar is 9.5kg with no carbon outside the wheels.
Big up the Atalaya- absolutely mega bike. So stiff yet so smooth
Have to admit when given a choice I grab my ti bike with 10 speed chorus absolutely love it
hello Francis ur thoughts on cinelli pressure?
Recently, I had to choose between my 2002 Saeco Cannondale CAAD 5 and my Cervelo S2 2012 due to a lack of space. I choose the Cannondale, rebuild I with a full Ultegra R8000 mechanical 11 speed groupset, Hunt 50mm carbon wheelset, and it is now the best bike i have ridden, better than my Cervelo
I'd like to hear Nic's thoughts on the ADHX 45. Did just boosting the tire clearance of the ADHX turn it into a real gravel bike (if a very racy one)?

Nice selection of old and new,, Logo Passoni titanium gravel bike made to measure or off the peg if I could borrow someones cheque book.
My favorite bike is the one I can afford, which is none on this list. I currently ride a Trtek Madone 2.1 that I bought used a few months ago. I'm getting it tuned up this week, but I already like it a lot. I had been off of road bikes since an injury 6 years ago, and I'm happy to be back on one. I have a Giant Escape 2 hybrid which I also love as a backup bike. I'll probably use that one in the rain if I have to ride.
I bought a CAAD 4 R400 for 250 EUR not long ago, in excellent condition. Love that bike. Stiff as hell, but just fun to ride 😊
I'd like to see all the bikes Nick and Jimmy have, like a tour of the bikes they own
I read about a customer experience of Battaglin on The Paceline forum, iirc badly misaligned and after a failed attempt to resolve the problem they washed their hands of it. For extremely high priced custom frames I'd be expecting close to perfection _every_ time, as well as exceptional service.
I have a Tommasini and it's a marvelous bike
Wow what a revelation! New bikes are better than your crappy old one! Thanks!
HeLLo! LoVeYourChannel :) a question for nick or anybody else who might have a idea about it: i'm thinking about a MASON BOKEH TI. do you got any expirience with this frame? cheerio!

Nobody dislikes well-manufactured framesets, but if a model is a total pain to work on or is very restrictive on the parts I can install, I don't want it.
I had an all-road/gravel build on a Kinesis RTD frameset. Unfortunately it was stolen but it was probably the best riding bike I've ever had.

Dario Pegoretti Responsorium any day for me. Rim brake with Campagnolo groupset
The problem with the ADHX is it predates their ADHX45 offering so it truly was their gravel bike for a while. So it has slacker geometry than the ADH and truly excessive tire clearance for road (38mm, maybe more in 1x). Time needs to increase the tire clearance on their ADH and Scylon road bikes to ~32. The carbon layup is very nice.
@Kuachachacha

I think they are going to release a nee Scylon this year and I am curious if the clearance is increased. 28 mm on my Alpe d‘Huez are the maximum.
