Fixing The Steering & Swapping Tires On The Redcat Wendigo RC Rock Racer | Holmes Hobbies

The Holmes Hobbies Redcat Wendigo has been sitting on the shelf, looking a little sad waiting to be run again. Last time out, John bumped up the power in this rig and it had a little durability issue. It's a known issue and Redcat supplied the parts to fix it. In this video John walks you through the fix and also swaps out the tires for some that will hopefully stay on the rims of this rock racing beast.

    On the issue of tires being hard and stiff I spray WD40 on the tires and let it soak in. It softens the rubber and helps with traction. I enjoy your videos and use Holmes Hobby motors in most of my crawlers. Thanks John

    Also, wd40 every rtr plastic arms on ANY rtr u get. Makes the plastic give, not break. (I've done that for 40+ years!)

    BTW that’s a track day tip. Some tracks won’t let you do any tire dressings but they’re out there. I prefer liquid wrench and Simple Green for my tires though.

    Hi John I got replacement parts too from Redcat, I jumped over a dune and landed on a stump popped the glue on the tires too so I got aluminum beadlocks, I just use needle nose pliers on pivit balls arrrrr lol 😆 always entertaining and educational see ya next time 😎👍

    Redcat actually has an amazing warranty and customer support system. My gen 8 had a ton of issues that were basically user error but Redcat was willing to replace anything that I broke, axle parts, transmission parts, etc. they don’t ask many questions they just replace whatever part number you send them.

  • @agoodballet

    @agoodballet

    Google User I agree and since that Redcat has been repaired it was sold as soon as the parts were delivered. I didn’t even bother fixing it. I too own several different brands and have several custom competition rigs and not one of them have redcat products on them. It was a cool rig to start off my addiction because it taught me that things do break and that fixing them is a huge part of the hobby but luckily since I ditched the Gen 8 I haven’t had to “fix” so much and have time and money to upgrade. Maybe because the rig I had was so new and it broke within a month and that’s why they were willing to help me but I understand your frustration and have seen it all okay out on Facebook since I was a member of those groups and saw them literally deteriorate.
