Fixing the Bearing Pocket in an Obsolete Clutch Throw Out Drive Odd shaped part for Monster Monarch

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I had to step sleeve a bearing pocket on an old John Deere combine part thta had worn out and could no longer hold the clutch throw out bearing that mounts on the shaft that runs in this part. It was large diameter and awkwatd to hold as its a purely tapered casting. Anyway with some wood shims I got it gripped good enough to cut the bore back on center as it had been pulled out of line by the belts then sleeved it bored the sleeve with a step so the bearing can't go thru. Thanks for watching!

"Notify the power company I''m turning the Monarch on". Then the growl as the motor starts like something from an old Horror Movie. Love it!!

Would have been great if he cut in that scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where they have to cut in the nuclear reserve. 😄

I remember when the Soughet I'll power plant came on line 180 degrees out. Bent the whole floor in the frame of the building about 2 degrees. And Mc Donnell Aircraft always notified power co when starting 1,100 hp wind tunnel.

A couple of days ago, I did a weld/fab mod to a guy's loader bucket on his little Deere tractor. I did it in trade for a trombone lesson. He's an excellent teacher. I told him I like watching Brian in KY youtube videos. There are lot of useful parallels that musicianship and machining share.

Real thin bushings are flexy. When you put the bearing in it it gets tighter but 0 clearance is still 0 clearance. There are set screws that lock the bearing as well so it’s not intended to be a super tight fit.
