Thanks Ken. I was in the exact same position as you and that's why I made the video. This short vid has become my favourite because it has helped so many people and that's great.
VERY HELPful. I have been struggling with this for months!!! THANKS!!
OMG!! THANK YOU!! This started after I went way on holidays for 2 weeks and my Z6 sat on the shelf! First time I picked it up on my return and I had this problem! Super frustrating with the next two client sessions where I couldn't review the images on the screen, or show any captures to my client! Thank you! Huge sigh of relief!

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tip!
Just to let you know that it works for the cheap Z9 also 😍 Thanks for the quick, to the point video.
Just had this problem with my screen not coming back on and you nailed the issue, dust! My Z7 is back to normal! Thanks for posting!
So glad I found this! I was about to send in my Z6! Such an easy fix! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for the tip. In my case it was not dust, but the little rubber that blocked the sensor just a little unfortunally enough not to work anymore.
Brilliant. Was driving me absolutely insane and I have a photo shoot in a few days without time to take my camera in to the shop to have it looked at. Worked immediately!
Thank you!!!! Thank you!! I thought my brand new Z was already having a major issue! It was only the second time taking photos outside. I can’t believe it’s such a simple fix! It’s back to working! Thank you for sharing!

Worked! Thank you very much!!
Wow.Even when you said that was all that was needed I didn't believe it! LOL! Thank you. Thank you. That was amazing and such a simple fix. It definitely fixed a lot of frustration for me and I'm annoyed at myself because I would have taken the Z7 on a couple of shoots if I had asked the question last week!!. Very grateful Z7 user.

Thanks a lot. It looks like Nikon viewfinder proximity sensor is extremely sensitive to dust. I had exactly the same problem on my Panasonic G85, but there the sensor was really visually dirty. On Nikon there were no visible dust, but your solution worked!
Thank you! Can't believe it was such an easy fix

yah.. Its best to proactively keep it clean. When you do you sensor or lens etc. Its ridiculous but an easy fix.
Thank you!!! That fixed the problem for me.
Thanks for this handy advice. The blower didn't sort the problem so I used a soft brush and it worked immediately. Had it not been for your tip I would maybe have taken the Z6II back to the dealer.

OMG this was the problem on my Z62, now solved, thank you. I had just started shooting and suddenly the playback would not work at all, I could only view photos and the menu in the EVF, even when I changed the playback settings to monitor only for viewing images. I was thinking I'd have to send it for repair -- when I came home and googled, this was one of the videos that came up. Thank you so much.

Thank you!!!! I was very disappointed thinking my Z6II was broken or something like that.
Thanks. Someone else suggested cleaning with a q-tip. I just gently blew on mine and instantly it worked fine. Funny that this sensor is so delicate to be bothered by a little dust but great to know it can be solved quickly. Sounds like many are having this issue. Was very frustrating!
