FIXING My CHEAP Hummer Only Cost $36 (But It's Still A Bad Car)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If there's one thing every KZreadr has to own, it's the Hummer H2, and I found the perfect example. This 2003 Hummer H2 has almost 300,000 miles, tons of mods, and it's sitting on chrome 20's. It screams Hummer, VERY NICE.

What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Goldwing, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make KZread videos.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

If you spray the belt with brake clean as it's running you can hear the squeal change if it's the belt causing it.

  • @jasonbucher5622
    @jasonbucher56223 ай бұрын

Reason you don't hear belt squeal much anymore is new cars have spring belt tensioners - older cars required bolts to tension the belt, then bolt down the tensioner pulley. Getting it tensioned right was an art, plus bolts loosened from use. I always struggled getting belts properly tensioned before the nice spring tensioners.

JR, a solid (and cheap) fix for the intake manifold is to patch it with Shoo Goo. Clean it with brake clean, apply the Shoo Goo and let it cure. It'll be there forever, and it stays flexible. You can 'mold' it with masking tape, which peels off easily after curing.

E6000 shoe glue works good, and I’ve even used super glue in a pinch but it’s not as flexible so be careful putting your repaired intake tube back on.

I think the rattle is the driver side rear lens protector. I noticed it on your last video how it didn't seem secure when you were showing the H2. It might not be the only rattle, but it appeared to be a big one

I think a major cause of the rear clunk is the aftermarket tire carrier. It would be a lift, but I’d be tempted to take that off and drive around some. Glad you had two easy wins lately. Everybody deserves a simpler fix every now and then. Thank you, as always ~ Chuck

Of subject, but did you sell the tiny resort? That was a cool project, no matter how it concluded. Also, how is the new house coming along? Back to the video, it’s a nice looking Hummer, my last squeal on my Caprice PPV 6.0 was actually a tensioner, but I always figure if you have to spray a belt, it’s probably time to replace it anyways

Fix the exhaust manifold leak correctly. You can usually back the broken stud out with a pair of vice grips and that side of the motor is pretty easy to get to

It gets expensive. Last one I did: I extracted 6 broken bolts, plug wire ends broke off on a few, both manifolds were warped, oil fill tube was so rusted it needed to be replaced. I personally would try one of those Dorman cheaters first.

GM vehicles that come stock with ac converters also have high output alternators. The more load on the alternator the harder it is on the belts. If you pull the fuse for some of your electrical auxiliary plugs and put in a new battery the belt will last for a couple of years. On my truck I finally found a fixed tensioner pulley that fit and used a bar to pry the alternator tight against the belt. 2 years and no problems yet.

My Dart I broke the back manifold bolt on the drivers side just like that, permanent exhaust leak after that. They used special sleeved bolts on the early 340 exhaust manifolds on the passenger side too and for years those were made of unobtainaium and we used to scour swap meets trying to find good ones till someone made exact copies years later. I have a set stashed for my 318 I put those performance manifolds on.
