It was a great visit by Wayne. Awesome video from a great guy. Guna toast to you wayne tonite with a shot of chivas. I thank him alot for getting my 6v71 going. Thanks everyone for the great comments about my ltl-9000. Next week the painted rims with new rubber are going on. No air guns either. Old skool bar. Hope to have it done for macungie 23.

Im not 100%.. im betting that fifthwheel needs to be over the rear axle..not the front.. especially with older trailers.. it seems to be too far forward imo.. id measure it before and if u ever hook it to a trailer..

I would keep the ltl-9000 once it’s done you have put in a lot of blood ,sweat and money into that rig just to let someone else enjoy it . I’ve made that mistake selling my 98 red sport dodge ram 3500 4x4. with a 5 speed and 12 valve cummins. I miss it every day

What a rewarding Video, I had not seen a 6-71 like that since 1973. And to hear that baby spring to life and purrr was just so cool. You got in to that governor tuned that up nice. You wonder if its possible to stuff a V6-17 into CHevy or GMC pickup???? Great engine. Thanks for sharing the process. Still freaked out about Circle Track Truck???? Dennis
It's just awesome the way this whole truck community pulls together for the love of these old machines. Like Wayne just saw something in need of a helpful hand, and dived right into it. Knowledge and parts shifting hands, spreading the joy. I just love these videos, don't know what it is, but you do make 'em good Wayne. well appreciated. keep 'em coming, and keep up the good work.

Wow man, it's a treat watching you apply your knowledge to that engine. Interesting about the chokedown flaps being retained for fire and mining environments - I would've never thought about that or considered that possibility. Ran Terex scrapers & dozers. The 979 or 24 Loadrunner had a 12V71T with 500 horse. In the winter we would shut them off, check the oil; start them back up & put blocks under the throttles & they would scream all nite. Try that with any other brand of engine & you’ll be picking up pieces in the morning. Noisy but tough; where’s my ear plugs

I take a 12v pump.. take that fitting out side of filter housing.. force fuel from can right into side of filter housing.. run it for min.. that usually does it for me when priming. Any cheap parts store 12 volt pump..couple rubber lines..and fitting with 3/8 nipple to go into filter housing..

What is up Brother! I drove a Ford 9000 for a week. The only thing I really liked was the dash set-up. All of the guages were in plain view and the switches were easy to reach. The fifth wheel didnt always lock and I dropped a trailer and bent up the landing gear. What a bad day. Congrats on the new hood! Regards from Ody Slim

Nice job troubleshooting the 6v71, Wayne! Too many wannabe Detroit mechanics out there that don't *quite* know what they're doing on those governors and end up with a runaway catastrophe (usually by having the 'surge eliminator' cranked in too far), or just mal-adjusted racks, etc... It is pretty amazing how just the weight of those vice grips can affect the way it successfully comes right back to idle (or not).😉 Sounds like a good little runner near the end there after it picked up those other cylinders!👍👍
@Ol2Stroker
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan!! Really glad i took the time to look it over before firing it up
My favorite way of priming a Detroit is take a carb electric fuel pump and put in the primary fuel filter and let her pump till you hear it come out of the return. If you poke a hole in a bottle of water cap a male quick connect will fit and seal so you can pump into the filter and squeeze fuel into it, and it can run off the bottle for a sec as the bottle with crush in when the fuel goes out.

hello wayne I'm from Brazil and I always watch your videos. I'm also a truck mechanic, in this video I saw the difficulty of making the fuel go up to the pump. And the generator, last week I also had a problem with a power generator, mine had a frequency problem (Hz). Good job.
