Thank you for watching. This pole saw was getting harder and harder to start till finally it didn't start at all. We know it runs but its just tough to start so we're only changing the metering diaphragm which is usually the problem. Ethanol gas was mower than likely to blame for this problem.

I can't thank you enough for posting this video. I bought a second-hand Craftsman weed whacker (made by Poulan, with an identical power head) and found that the fuel lines were shot. After pulling them out, I couldn't remember how to route the new lines. The local power equipment shop wanted $90/hour to work on it, but your video showed the procedure perfectly! You saved me a bundle and got my weed wacker running again. Many thanks!

This particular engine configuration is just about the biggest pain in the rear I've ever encountered. I mean... with the pull rope between the engine and the shaft. I was brought one of these to repair... with a newly purchased carb (non-factory}. I went thru the old carb with no problem but then noticed that the pull rope was frayed and about to break. That's when the real pain began. Of course, I won that battle but never did get the engine to run properly. I'll check the diaphragm again... and make sure I have the fuel lines in the correct places... and it'll be back in service. Oh yeah... did I mention that the owner had worked on it first???!!! Thank you so much for your clear explanations and views of everything. It's the best one I've seen. JKM, aka MrCurator

I gotta say THANK YOU!!!! Someone just brought me the exact same unit, but trimmer attachment not pole saw. However, customer's issue is that its not starting.....well....first thing I did is pour some fuel in the carbs throat and it started but only a few seconds, so I immediately began to rip apart the unit and set my sights on the carburetor. Lord Jesus when I pulled that thing apart it was a mess. Fuel lines all connected to the wrong ports, fuel filter on wrong gas line, everything was connected wrong. There's nothing more I hate than someone messing with something, screwing it all up,and then bringing it to me to fix. Well after replacing ALL gas lines and fuel filter, thats where your video came in. Your explanations on where to hook up all the gas lines was absolutely perfect and the video clearly showed all connections. The repair was a complete success and I owe it to you, thank you!! OH did I mention the petrified diaphragm and he was missing the gasket that sits with it??? Someone obviously tried to repair it and failed miserably. Lol, thanks again, CHEERS,I'M HAVING A BEER!!!🍻

This explains a lot. I can get the machine to run, and adjusting the carburetor made it run really well. However, it's short lived. I've ordered some metering diaphragms along with the gasket, primer bulb (because it's leaking) and a new air filter. The thing is a beast when it's running properly, and I love the pole saw attachment. Mine is over 20 years old but hasn't been used that much over the years due to its temperamental behavior. Thank you for the video.

I bought it to trim up this maple before it was taken down and this thing is wonderful and the blade is so sharp. The best thing is once the tree was on the ground using it to cut all the smaller branches instead of bending over with a regular chainsaw. It was so much easier on the back and not tripping over branches with a running chainsaw in hand and it cuts great. Got it with a special 20 bucks off but still well worth it without discount. GREAT SAW!!!

Great video -had this trimmer for 15 years. Replaced carburetor 5 years ago and it ran better than ever. Used an OEM Zama almost as cheap as the rebuild kit. Needed it last week for ice storm damage and it was very temperamental.. Decided to get a replacement carburetor since I had great luck last time. What PIA! After much investigation determined that the aftermarket choke lever lobe was just a tad bigger and on tightening the screws the choke would not operate. Thought it was fuel lines at first - then mounted the carburetor with no fuel lines -choke would still no function. Rebuilt my OEM carburetor tonight and hoping for the best tomorrow...again, appreciate the video

Emptying all traces of fuel before hibernation prevents fuel system from gumming up. But, I'm told, because that will make the diaphragm dry, it will make it brittle. So obviously that is the choice that you make, so no point asking you which would be your choice!

I guess whether or not a pole saw is useful for your lineup of power tools depends on your needs. I have several trees in my yard with low hanging branches. Each year I have to go out and cut them all down. It never fails that the next year the limbs will grow in the spring and start to droop down in the summer continuing the cycle of needing a pole saw over and over again. I like having the trees in my yard for shade, so I don't want to just cut the entire trees down. But I also walk my dogs in my yard and don't appreciate bobbing and weaving past low hanging branches either. A motorized pole saw is an effective and easy answer to that problem.

While I was still working I could get the rental stuff for next to nothing so I borrowed a pole saw for about 15 minutes for the walnut and it took 3 days for both of us to clean up the mess. I have a set of Fred Marvin tree clippers and a saw and a 110 volt Workz chain saw riigged up to fit the poles but never again. I'll hire it done the next time. AND are the knockoff cheap gas shutoff valves any good? I paid around $8 for one for the pressure washer this evening and I saw I can get a whole stack of them for about the same money off Ebay. I value your advise! Thanks nd Blessings!

@@HomeGaragechannel I meant to tell you a while ago that while I was ACE-ing around and getting the gas valve I also looked for a round scraper like you use and there was none. One of the pals there said to get a metal one and make one. That sounded reasonable but I'll just keep looking. I'm about to start cleaning and repainting mower deck undersides and one would be handy BUT I'll have everything rerady and the pressure washer ready too so all will be well. I use oil base black brushed on heavy, probably 2 coats and Scoutcrafter John's 50/50 of acetone and ATF for rust proofing. Gas works fine for thinning if needed and brush cleaning. Happy evening and BLESSINGS!
