Nice video! This has to be the single fastest gate dropping on a railroad crossings signal I have ever seen! Ive seen plenty of gate smackings in the past but this. This is a whole new level.

The owner of the crossing definitely wanted it to stay mechanical when it came to the bell.

How expensive is it just for the crossing itself? Im just curious

There is no one price for a crossing signal as they are comprised of a lot more parts than what most think about. They usually go for $11,000-18,000 per full signal depending on the manufacturer and the style/sophistication of the gate mechanism style. What drives the crossing gate is way more complicated and expensive as even more goes into pricing those.

Why can a barrier end up in the forest?

at around 6:40 I saw a spark when the gate got all the way up. What is it and is it normal? thanks

Good observation! We have done a follow up video on that already actually but it will not post until next week. The spark is normal as once the gate goes all the way up, the gate up contact will turn off the motor and cause a bigger spark than any other contact. That is because the gate up contact drives a load (the motor) so once the gate goes all the way up it causes that spark you noticed.
