OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOD! This video perfectly describes the main issue I have when I am playing poorly. My stance is not in line with the shot, specifically my right foot (I am right handed) is too far to the RIGHT of the shooting line. It feels totally normal for me to stand this way. I aligned this way for over 40 years. But in the last year-and-a-half I have changed my stance to walk into the shot while putting the ball of my right foot on the shooting line. When I consistently do this I shoot really really well. Alignment is so so so important. It should be the very first thing any person works on. If I had made a video myself talking about alignment what is said in this video would be exactly what I would say. When you stand to far to the left or right of the shooting line it causes you to cue across the ball...even just a little is not good. And the best way to stop from doing this is to stand with your dominant foot on the shooting line or very close to it. GREAT VIDEO!

I am now retired and living in Bacolod Philippines. When young I played a lot of pool and played well, but not a champion. About 5 years ago I decided to start playing again. I lost a lot of my vision in my dominant right eye which made me give up pool until about a year ago. I decided to see if I could make the necessary adjustments to change over to the left eye. After a lot of trial and error and searching on-line for help I came across your videos. Your videos on alignment have been the key for me to start playing maybe even better than when I was Young. Thank you very much for your videos

Personally, I found I was missing shots by mm's always to the left side of the pocket with my foot on the line, so I moved my foot to the right of the line and...holy smoke, it's a miracle. It's also a lot more comfortable and natural feeling.

@@theznooker I can only think it's a matter of eye alignment and natural aiming judgement...u think you are aiming centre ball but you are not. A lot of players have that problem. Try tilting your head to the the left or right when down on the shot. It may not look correct to u but could help to centre your cue tip.

This might just be the number one video on any channel, but I had to come to a major realization on my own. Reading this might just really help someone. After 41 years away from playing snooker, I have been playing for 2 years, with only mild improvement. Until now. I am right handed, and before seeing this video, I was just living with the fact that all my cue balls were swerving right to left, so I would actually aim to miss on purpose so that I could make the pot. Then I saw this video. So I did the drill of placing the cue ball on the brown spot and trying to deliver it straight up and back. My cue ball always came back to left because of a slight swerve. Then I took my right foot, and moved it drastically to the left. Guess what? The ball started swerving the opposite way. I then found the "sweet spot" of where if I placed my right foot properly, I noticed that the grain of my cue stayed straight and that the cue ball came back straight. This whole process took only 5 minutes to figure out. I did struggle in real games for 2 weeks because I was still aiming (wrong) with my old cueing, but now the last 2 weeks have been far far better with basic shot making. Thank you!!

I was potting more consistently. I was a bit uncomfortable but it was working for me. If there is any more information about stance and foot placement. do share it in future videos. THANKYOU

I wonder if you might be gripping the cue too tight and trying to put too much power into the shot. The deep screw is a pretty difficult shot anyway since you're trying to hit as low as possible but not too low. If you hit it nice and smooth you don't actually need to be hitting the very bottom edge of the white, though.

I play 8 ball with a friend that grew up in China playing snooker. We are in the U.S. He still stands in a snooker stance. And he's taught me how to stand. I absolutely cannot straighten my right leg. I have to have both legs bent almost the same. I don't know how you guys do it at all. I'm not that tall. I'm 5'11". but it's just impossible. I love the stance. I am so much more accurate, especially with my long potting. but I cannot stand properly like you guys that play snooker. He's helped me so much but can't figure out any way for me to be able to straighten my leg. So I've just been going with it with both legs bent. lol. any ideas? or should I just keep doing what I'm doing with it? thanks.

It’s not a huge issue if you can’t. Mark King is a great example of that

@@Breakfromlife thank you. I've watched him play but haven't looked close at his stance. I'll check it out. Thanks break. I appreciate it. I only found snooker a year ago here on KZread. And I have watched it everyday since. It's my favorite pool game now. The only problem is...I've never played on a snooker table. The nearest one is 6 hours away in Detroit. It's just not that popular here at all. In fact if you walk into a pool hall here and ask.....maybe 3 out of 10 people know what snooker is. The others don't like it. I wish that it would catch on here. I am making a trip to Detroit this summer for a few days. So I'm excited to play. And then I'm also planning a trip to England but not sure yet when that will be. But when I do if you could recommend a place that I could play in London or near that would be so nice. Thank you again.

Hello; can i ask you please I had a problem that i never had before, i was playing in a local tournement yesterday, i couldnt play well, ( till the point that k coudnt score more than 9 break) it s like it wasnt me, The problem isnt because i was under stress, or afraid from my oppenent or afraid to lose, but i couldnt have any feeling on my hands for any shot. Please can you tell me what happened and any advice if i have the same problem another time? Thanks a lot.

Will do at least a video about this soon. Basically this is a problem that everybody has or has gone through or will have gone through at some stage. The best thing you can do is focus on playing the game. It’s very easy to stop doing the vital things you need to do to play well when it starts going wrong. Everyone will struggle to get anything right at some stage. What you don’t want to do is think this is your fault in some way. Because it is something you will have to deal with time to time. If you just keep trying to play the game you will get back to playing like yourself quicker. If you continue to be concerned about it all going wrong it can leave you struggling for the rest of the day

What's the argument for having your potting arm directly over the cue. Everyone's action is different, yours is slightly off, as is mine. But often been told I would improve if I did this.
