If you have pro edition of Windows you can set group policy editor to skip driver updates and do that part manually. I prefer that on older hardware. When proper driveres are installed a backup of all drivers can be made and used whnen you have to make a clean install again.

I have been using Show Hide for years, but in Windows 11 it says it's being retired when you open it.

I don't have that update problem on windows 10 but have where it does not automatically do daily updates. I have to click on Check For Updates. If I do not every 4-6 hours I miss the previous one and get the latest. I am missing probably 2 out of 6 or so every 24 hours. I can look to see what the latest one is and the one or two before it I do not get. Automatic does not function. The monthly updates will appear above when ready though. As for Edge it keeps copying my Chrome folders without my permission and irks me to no end. I might either by accident or just a peek at Edge every few days. My choice is Chrome not Edge. All my setups, passwords and a thousand movies or more are at Chrome. I go to Edge and they copy stuff I have in Chrome which should be illegal. I like your daily messages on what's up though. Good job.

Umm hate to break the news to you but wshowhide no longer works on Win11 (can't say if it works on 10 as I don't use it). On Win11 you're gonna face 2 issues, the first being that windows will start reinstalling the driver before you can even launch the tool and search for updates etc so you'd need to at least pause updates first. But having said that it's still pointless as MS update doesn't seem to pay any attention to that tool anymore, so even if you've hidden and/or blocked an update windows update will download and install it anyways. I've tried to use this method in the past year a few times because MS sometimes likes to override my newer Nvidia driver and install it's own older driver instead but it just ignores wshowhide and does it anyways (this has happened with more than just that 1 driver, I'm just using it as an example).

This show/hide was built into windows 7.

However, even Microsoft Edge won't let me, even after clicking the "Keep" option next to the download in the toolbar. Microsoft Edge warned me of malicious harm and made it impossible to download the file.

Windows is not the same. It’s very slow now. 10 and 11. Just gets worst.
