I actually don’t even know what to say. We bought an LG washer in 2013 and I hated that thing with all my guts from the very beginning. Didn’t fill with water, didn’t clean well, weak movement, error codes for non existent errors. After 7 years of frustration, one pump replaced already and zero, but absolutely zero assistance from LG for any of the issues, the machine started with excessive UE codes yesterday. A small half hour load took 7 hours. I was beyond livid! I decided to try what you did, but had not high expectations or any for that matter. Got the blue loctite, tightened the nut, put the machine back in position and started a rinse and spin only. I’m not kidding! My jaw dropped! Machine sensed load once left, once right and then filled! More water than I’ve ever seen in that machine before! Went through the program with a movement of a 20 year old chacha dancer! I’ve never seen so much passion coming from a machine ever before! Especially not this one! This one resembled more a sloth than anything else. Started a load of towels, hoping it wasn’t just a coincidence. It wasn’t! I’m on my 3rd load of laundry now. Not one error code! Not one!! Clothes are clean and even feel different! I can’t believe that I went through 7 year of laundry hell, because “engineers” decided that a frigging flush nut is sufficient for a moving, wobbling, spinning, heavy drum! I serious can’t wrap my head around this much stupidity! Thank you so so so so very much!!

I watched several videos on different issues than can cause an LE error so I would be prepared for whatever may be wrong. I came across this one and just wrote it off thinking, "there's no way my issue will be THAT simple." Well, I turned it over and sure enough, loose nut. Tightened it and the problem is gone. Amazing! None of the in-depth repair videos even mention this as a possible source of the problem, so thank you for posting this.

YOUR ARE A GENIUS!! I actually bought a new washer and when I took this one out, I said to myself "Let me check that nut to see if that guy was right"> Sure enough, the nut was loose! I tightened it up and it worked like a charm. No I have a new washer on the way. I guess I will sell this one. THANK YOU!

My LG top loader, 12 years old, started making a grinding noise during the spin cycle and displaying the LE code. Watch this video, flip the washing machine on its back and sure enough this is exactly what the problem was. Reinstalled the nut with some blue loctite, problem solved. Thank you!

😊 This was so simple, if not obvious. But if you do not move washer machine and look under the machine, you will end up calling repair person when anyone with a wrench can fix. Our nut and washer were laying on floor beneath machine. When the drum is not affixed, it throws off the load sensing process and the machine presents with the LE error. Try to reset using the buttons, but if the issue is this nut beneath the machine it will not resolve. 1-Turn machine off. 2-UNPLUG 3-Remove drain hose and place inside machine with washer lid partially closed to secure it out out of the way. 4-If needed, TURN OFF (perpendicular) hot and cold water valves and disconnect the hot and cold water feeds at the washer. Put a small bucket beneath as you do, or you may wet floor. 5-Wiggle machine into position where you (and a second person if needed) can prop the machine on its side. 6-Then look beneath and check if washer and nut are in place and tight. 7-If not put washer on and then nut and tighten with adjustable wrench or monkey wrench. 8-return machine upright. 9-reattach hot cold water lines HAND TIGHT. 10-return drain hose to waste line/drain/sink 11- open up hot cold water lines and check for any leak. 12-Return machine to position 13-Let it rip. If this was issue it should be resolved. My Hurricane Sandy washer is back in business! 14- If late in day, tell significant other or roomate how hard it was and that you saved them a lot of money. Hence, their turn to fix dinner and get you an ice cold beverage of choice. Happy clean clothes!

Thanks so much for posting this- we had the same issue. I was about to go down a whole different rabbit hole, but after seeing your video I checked that nut - and sure enough loose on ours too. Tightened with a bit of loctite and it's working great again. You saved me a lot of time and/or an unnecessary repair call - thanks again!

I have a Kenmore Elite Top Load washer very similar to this that I bought back in 2013. I have had it under warranty and have had it worked on many times in the past 5 years. It is now out of warranty, so I wanted to check the LE code just before I paid someone to look at it. I saw your video and it was the same exact issue. I tightened that nut and it is now working just fine again. Thank you for posting this. A pretty simply fix overall.

Thanks for posting the video. It really helped me out. I had replaced the suspension rods (they were worn out anyway) and was still getting the random UE errors. Can't believe LG would NOT put a lock washer, Loctite, or cotter pin on this...WTF. The nut can just back out and fall off.

When we got our washer used a few years ago, we had someone find a video like this, possibly yours. He was able to tighten the bolt and we were set. This week, we've had issues. We don't even have a wrench. Tightening as best we could got us a little better function so I'm really hoping if I can get a way to tighten it completely we'll be set.

When you had your LE code pop up could you hear the clanking sound of this screw being loose at the bottom? That’s what I started hearing all of a sudden then the LE code would pop up.
