The vertical blind that you are repairing is a 8 prong steel head rail low cost stock type vertical blind. I totally recommend using the 4 prong self aligning head rail so that way you won't run into as many problems with this type of headrail. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Oh yes. There are definitely more high end products. These are the super common ones (because they are inexpensive). These have been in almost every rental property and apartment community that I have done maintenance for.

Do you have any videos on how to replace the blind hook up into the rack. Mine have a broken clip and the clip won't hold the blinds in.

This video shows removing and putting back in one of the clips that holds the slat in. If you are referring to the mounting bracket that holds the whole thing up, I don't have one for that, but i will need to shoot an instal video for these next time the opportunity arises.

Gosh I wish I could find a video to show how to fix a broken clip by pulling it out and replacing a new one without taking my whole vertical blind bar down!! But great how to anyway…

If you are looking to replace one of the little cars that slides back and forth. I think it’s easier to take it down. If it’s just the clip I think I did show that in the video. But it was for showing how to put the little gear piece inside.

It’s hard to get specific on brands and models without being able to look at it myself. The fixes in this video may work for yours as well. This is a very common style.

I have Levolor shades and I found that for the first issue, you can’t just turn it. You have to turn the shades so the broken shade is closed, remove the shade, push up on the clip that holds the shade, and that allows you to change the direction. There’s a small rectangular hole on the piece that holds the clip and gears. Close the rest of the shades, use a pliers to pull the misaligned clip back down, reinstall shade.

Hello! I would say no. It’s possible someone could figure out a way to do that, but it would take a lot of work. The rod that runs down the center spins to turn the slats. I think you would have to get 2 small sets and mount one on each side.

What are the chains that can be connected to it so wind won’t break?

The individual cars that hold the slats can be replaced, but you have to take the whole thing down and disassemble it. Unfortunately, I don’t have a video up for that. But when I have one brake I’ll have to make one.

What do you recommend for a repair to put a slat back up that tore? Thanks!

They make little repair tabs that are like a sticker that you put around where the hole is. But, what I’ve done in a pinch is, straighten a paper clip and lay it across where the top of the hole should be. Then use clear tape to hold it in place. Then, I would stick that slat in the last place so you don’t notice it so much.

I can't find the headrail replacement. I have the same brackets as you have. The wand broke off and the clips next to it wont move.

If you have the same ones as these, and have an issue with the mechanism that turns the center rod. You may be better off replacing the whole unit. The parts may end up costing half the price of a whole new set.

When i close my blinds, the last slat hits the rod that you spin to close it. Since the rod is in the way, the last slat is crooked and leaves a gap. How do i fix that?

The slats have a slight curve to them. It’s possible that if you flip them all around the other way it would close tighter. But, without looking at it, I’m guessing. It may just be a design flaw in the model that you have.

My friend has two turned slats I tried to turn them like in your first example but it doesn’t budge and feels like it will break if I apply to much pressure

Sometimes they are really hard to click over. You could remove the clip and put it back in. Just be careful not to lose the little gear piece that is inside.

Hopefully you can help me with my problem. When I turn the rod to open the blinds they only turn a little then the rod has no traction to keep turning the blinds. Please tell I don't have to replace the whole thing.

If the rod keeps spinning and the slats don’t turn, then it sounds like the issue is in the gear box that the rod connects to. It’s probably fixable, but it’s tough to say exactly what is wrong without looking at it.

I have a client’s vertical blind that in the process of moving it on the brackets to make room for work on the far end, one or both end caps were broken, some plastic component shards where found on the floor. Short of buying the client a new vertical blind, I’ve tried locating the end cap assemblies that hold the rod so that the blinds can rotate. Ideas on where these can be purchased? I see every other vertical blind replacement part but these!

Honestly, I would probably replace the whole thing. Different brands use different end pieces so you would have to find the right ones and that could be tricky. I would keep the slats and some other parts to have extras and replace the whole thing.

I'm having an issue where pulling the blinds all the way out across the window (as well as then later pushing them back to one side of the window) is very difficult, and they get pretty stuck. Any suggestions?

This can be caused by a couple of things. The individual cars slide along the outer part of the track as well as the center spindle. If the outer shell has a portion that is a little too wide, they can fall down a little and that gets them kid of wedged in there. So I would check that first. If as they slide they start to come out the bottom a little you may need to pinch the outer shell together a little. The opposite could also be true. If the shell is a little too tight it can cause the cars to drag. Another option could be lubricating the center spindle. A little WD-40 will help the cars slide along the center.

I usually only deal with the ones with the sticks. The ones with the strings can be a bit finicky. The string has probably come loose somewhere. But it’s thought to say without looking at it.

I have one of the clips that is 360 degrees from normal. In other words, it is backward from normal. How to get it turned around without breaking the gears

If the clip is on backwards but still turning like it is suppose to, you could remove the slat and just turn that around and put it back in. if you want to switch the clip around, I would probably pop it out and flip it and then pop it back in. You have to be careful though, because that is how you lose the little gear piece inside there. in the video I showed removing a clip and putting it back in.

@@RoscoReviews That is exactly what I did just put the slat in on the back side where the opening to the clip is. Ha ha...taking those clips out is tricky since they can break.

Thanks for the video! I have a quick question- In my case, I am having those vertical slat blinds and I have 2 issues and would greatly appreciate your response! (1) In my living room window blinds, only 1 out of the total 9 blinds move when I pull the rope attachment. The remaining 8 blinds just stop moving along with the first one after 2 seconds of pulling my rope attachment so there is this huge gap created when I close the blind and sunlight comes right in.What to do about it? (2) For my bedroom window blinds, i ma having the same issue but in this case 4 out of 9 blinds move after pulling the rope attachment. The remaining 5 just won’t move at all after a while so it creates a wide gap and sunlight comes right in. How to solve this issue? Thanks ahead of time for your response🙏

It sounds like one or more of the gears may be stripped. It’s tough for me to say exactly without looking at it. I primarily use the ones that have the stick on the moving end, rather than the string on the fixed end. So I’m not as familiar with those.

Can I ask are your blinds all on one bar/ bracket or two? If two then could I get some help please

I use 2 sets of 72” blinds butted together in the middle. The ones that I have seen that are the single set closing in the middle are the pull string style.

I have a head rail that does not allow me to change the gear. The manufacturer says there is no way to replace the gear in the misaligning vertical clip and he says I have to replace the whole head rail. If I am going to replace the head rail, I now want to replace it with the one that allows to replace the gear. Can you share the name of the company that made the head rail in your video that allows gear to be replaced in the vertical clip?

I’m sorry, It’s really tough to say without looking at it. It sounds like there is probably a gear that isn’t lined up right.

Mine does not have a way to unsnap going sideways. It goes straight up. It has to be accessed from above. You have to take the whole thing down

There are a lot of different models. the ones in the video are the really common, inexpensive ones that you typically see in rental units. You may have a fancier version.

What if none of them turn? I have my blind wide open ! I can't close them any ideas?

This is probably an issue with the little car that the twisting stick attaches to. Unfortunately, to replace that, you usually have to take the blinds down and remove the end.

All of the pieces are replaceable… however, at some point you are better off just replacing the whole thing. Especially if it’s the whole hosing that is bent or broken.

But usually if you spray a little WD40 on the aluminum rod that runs down the center then it slides a lot better.

I've had it happen a few times in my apartment 😳 and freaked out! Here I thought *I'd* discovered that fix by accident. 😂 What a relief when it worked!
