Fix Broken AC - How to RECHARGE car blowing HOT AIR

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If your car air conditioner is blowing hot air, A/C Pro is the quick & easy way to fix it yourself and save money.
A/C Pro is the all-in-one car A/C recharge kit that anyone can use-no tools required. It refills your system with R-134a refrigerant, and also seals leaks (to keep the refrigerant in the system) and protects and extends life of your A/C.
To recharge your car air conditioner with A/C Pro, simply attach the included hose to the car's low-side A/C port, set the gauge to the current outdoor temperature, and squeeze the trigger.

    There is one other issue with many cars with over 100K miles. The AC compressor can get tired. You will notice this when the system has a proper charge. When you start the car cold, everything works fine. But, drive it for a few miles, then pull into a store for a few minutes and then start the car again and take off and you will hear a sound much like the roar of the cooling fan on a diesel truck or older car as the engine revs. That fan like roaring is the AC pump beginning to fail. This is very common on Nissan vehicles. Honda cars make this rattling sound. Like I said, you will start to notice it when you let a hot engine sit for 15 minutes to an hour or so then restart and take off. It is very evident much above 2000 rpm. Many times, if the system is slightly low on freon, the noise will not be there. But if you top it off and get the pressures back up, all of a sudden you start hearing it. Like I said, this is usually heard on cars with over 100K miles on the original AC compressor and more common in hot locations like Florida. The thing is that the system will still cool the inside of the car fine. Problem is that when the compressor does finally go, the whole system will suffer from what they call the 'Black Death" which will many times require replacing EVERYTHING to get all that black goop out. Flushing rarely gets it all unless you do it several times (Which very few shops will do). So, if you do top off your freon, listen for any abnormal sounds coming from the compressor when the system is hot.

    I definitely hear that roar even more with the recirculation but my vehicle only has 50k miles.

    @@Monster33336 The noise I talk of will be quite evident if you raise the hood and listen to the compressor. Like I said, it should be a lot louder then the engine is still hot during a restart. This is when the system will experience the highest pressures until the fans cool stuff back down again. It is the first sign of impending compressor failure. Turning the inside system from circulating outside air to recirculating inside air will have no effect. It is normal to hear more fan noise inside a car when you go from normal to recirculating inside air. The noise I speak of is from the actual compressor and when it gets bad enough you will start to notice this growling inside the car. If you let it go, the compressor will eventually self destruct. A test is to let some of he freon out, thus reducing the system pressure. Then if the sound is less, you know the compressor is on the way out.My 350Z had this issue. Sounded good when the system was cool, but once it got hot, the compressor would start to make a growling noise. And yes, the front fans were working correctly. I did change it out before it completely died and with the new compressor and drier in there, the thing is nice and quiet now and cools great.

    This worked on my old 98' Nissan Maxima when I did it a few years ago. Thought the AC system was totally dead and never bothered with it for years (really sucked driving it in the summer) but I decided to buy a can of recharge and it actually worked. the AC compressor clicked on and i was able to mostly refill the system. Still works even 2-3 years after i filled it up. must be a very slow leak. most recently I've had to change my G35's radiator cooling fan. car would overheat when AC was on or if i was stuck in traffic which really sucks. noticed only one fan was blowing. replacing the whole shroud worked wonderfully.

    Yeah, I'm waiting for electronic radiator cooling fans to fail, which will be another video because they are simple to replace. That is why idling is hard on cars, no air flow. The fan dies, the car will overheat. The benefit to electric fans vs belt driven fans, is they free up horsepower. The only problem, is they fail, unlike belt driven fans. Keeping an eye on the fans is always a good practice!

    Wish the engine coolant temperature light would start blinking when it hit 3/4's of the way up. I've been lucky not to blow up my engine but I can imagine a situation where I could have had I not been paying attention to it and I'm stuck in an area with no shoulder.

    Tip from me for DIY .. on hot day no matter what temp is you can spray a mist on the condensor with a garden hose or splash in forceably with water only filled antifreeze jug when hose is not avail., ( in front of radiator) with the gauge on low pressure port . You do not need excessive water just make sure its wet from top to bottom and side to side rather evenly. For R134A the pressure for maximum cold on a properly operating system will be 28 psi , for R12 its 30 psi and for Freeze 12 a conversion brand its 26 psi.. these pressures yield temps so cold its almost freezing. * Over or Undercharging will yield warmer temps and higher operating pressures* Ive seen duct temps near 39 degs F on average using this technique. I ran my own Auto/ diesel master tech service for over 16 yrs closer to 19.. Being mobile you learn alot of tricks that save toting bulky equipment around. I always had to have a recovery machine though being a pro. Sometimes the R134A fittings will fail and cause the majority of leaks . Always clean and check the R134A ports before clamping hose on the service ports.

  • @theripper121

    @theripper121

    The optimum low side pressure changes dependent on outside air temp. To say every 134a system should have 28psi in the low side for max efficiency will not always be correct. Dependent on outside air temp pressures can and will range from about 25psi to 55psi on the low side of system. As the outside air temp rises so will optimum low side pressures.

    theripper121 Thus why I stated YOU MUST SPRAY THE CONDENSER WITH WATER ! This simulates a perfect day of 75 degs out . This prevents overfilling when using a can as well if people add freon gradually. I've only done this for 19 yrs professionally otherwise I would not have suggested it. During a recharge with a machine it dumps the correct amount in so its a no brainer.

  • @theripper121

    @theripper121

    6 жыл бұрын

    If you have a gauge why not just use the gauge properly and skip the step of trying to water down your condenser and guessing whether you got it wet enough or not and just fill it according to your outside temp. Seems like you're adding an unnecessary step. If you bought a can with the gauge on it just set it to outside temp and fill. Unfortunately most people don't have the proper equipment like you do to recover what is in the system, to pull a vacuum on the line and to refill. That would certainly be the most ideal for your cars ac system and the environment given tons of people end up releasing into the atmosphere but not the easiest on one's wallet.
