I'm working on a rayon Rhapsody blouse now. My tip is to use a walking foot on your sewing machine to keep layers of fabric from sliding around.

Love this video. .I love Rayon challis . I’ve made the vivance with it. I found the facings didn’t match after putting the interface on after cutting. I now use the block fusing method by Lifting. Pins and needle and put the interfacing on before cutting the facings. It works perfectly.

Rayon Challis is my favorite for warm weather dresses. To wash, I machine wash on delicate, then tumble dry for maybe 20 minutes primarily to get the wrinkles out, then hang it to dry fully. I have had problems with big box store's rayon pilling. Quilt shop and fine fabrics stores are better. I can even travel with long, flowy dresses as they may look wrinkled out of the suitcase, but hang up the dress and overnight those wrinkles have disappeared.

Fun and interesting video. it's very helpful to pick patterns for the fabric we have. I would give the suggestion, when mentioning what you have made with those challis outfits, please post pictures of that garment; as well as, linking fabrics that you spoke of. There were 2 fabrics that I really want! Anway, Yay, to your beautiful new pattern coming up. Thanks for the sneak preview.

Looking forward to your new skirt pattern, I like the look of that. Rayon is one of my favourite fabrics. I have had it disintegrate in the washing machine occasionally. Doesn’t stop me using it though! I don’t like making hi-lo garments where the reverse of the fabric is white. i know a lot of people don’t care, but it’s one of those things which gets my goat. 😝

Thank you for this video! Rayon Challis is one of my favorite fabrics, and the “list” of patterns that look good in it will help me a lot. I’m a bit new to using Love Notions patterns, although I have bought several. I’m learning how to use a projector instead of printing out a bazillion pages and taping or paying a lot for A0 printing. Today I worked with the Duet Trouser pattern preparing to make shorts (following a hack by Karina Trinidad). The pattern is digitized so well, that it’s very easy to work with for projection. 😮 As soon as I can find stretch denim I’ll make the Crescendo jeans…I’m looking forward to the Caprice skirt pattern!

I have a stash of rayon. I intend to treat it the same way that I prepare silk satin and silk georgette for cutting out. I will starch it and iron it damp on a woollen blanket on my dining room table. I found a supermarket that sells old fashioned powdered starch, but spray starch would do the same thing, just more expensively. I have heard of people immersing their fabric in a thin watery solution of unsweetened gelatine. Starch and gelatine wash out in plain warm water after the garment is complete.

Sure! The simple views, you can get away with 2y of 54"-60" width fabric. Anything cut on 45" width or with tiers will need closer to 3y for most sizes, but I don't think anything will need more than 3y. ~J

@@emmapeters4562there just isn’t a “perfect” fabric. “Natural” fibers get processed in the making, polyester is, I believe, petroleum-based, etc. Maybe the best we can do is find manufacturers that do the best job they can environmentally, and make our own clothes that will last a long time instead of going the “fast fashion” route. That way we would have less demand for new fabric and lessen the environmental impact of each person’s wardrobe.
