Honorable mention, London After Midnight. This one has been talked about a lot, but the 1927 silent horror movie starring Lon Chaney, the man of a thousand faces, had it's only surviving copy destroyed in the 1965 MGM vault fire. So while it's very unlikely, there's always a small chances one copy survives somewhere.

There are a lot of still photos. So many that the movie has been reconstructed using them. It’s not a very good movie anyway.

I do love channels about lost media. Other than BlameitonJorge or LSuperSonicQ, I cant really think of many others. So I'm glad that there is now another channel to share some lost media

id also recommend shoegazer productions. while they dont only make lost media content, the videos they do make on it are really interesting and well made. they did one on carnival of light by the beatles and the original ending to the charlir brown chistmas movie. really good stuff along with this channel too!

One sought after piece of lost media that comes to mind is a 1925 film called “London After Midnight”, which stars Lon Chaney. The last known copy was destroyed in a film vault fire in the 1960’s, and people have been actively looking for it ever since.

Beowulf to Justice League, iconic. Also, good news on that Justice League cut.

The deleted scenes from The Wizard of Oz, probably my favorite of Lost movie scenes, along with the spider pit scene from King Kong and the deleted footage of Freaks from 1932

Minor correction; Snyder was not removed from the project, he left on his own accord. Anything to the contrary is unconfirmed rumor. And it was much more than 15-20% but this video was obviously made before that was known.

I thought it was common knowledge that he left the project because his daughter tragically committed suicide and he needed to grieve with his family. I don’t get why people think there’s more to it-I’d do the same thing if I was in his shoes.

I would recommend removing the links to the Lost Media Archive in the description, they are far from reputable and many fake pages are not taken down. The Lost Media Wiki is good, it has real moderation and requires references.

In 1922, Earnest Hemingway's wife was traveling by train from Paris to meet him in another town. She was bringing the manuscript of his first novel that he had recently finished. She also brought all of the carbon copies of it, in the same suitcase, along with numerous notebooks with ideas for future novels. That suitcase was lost at some train station along the way. Untraceable. Gone forever. It nearly wiped out Hemingway, but he recovered and kept writing. There are endless tales of lost literary works like that.

Another sought after lost/unreleased album that would be a good subject for another video is "Eros" from Deftones. It was put on hold and shelved after their bassist Chi Cheng died in 2013 from his injuries he sustained in a car crash in 2008. The only known confirmed tracks from it are Smile, Melanie, Dallas (these three are available here on KZread), Destiny, and Trempest.

A minor correction on the doctor who episodes discovered in Nigeria they were actually found in 2011 but there was a delay of a dvd release till 2013 due to web of fear 3 being stolen before transit to the uk. However web of fear is getting a re release this year with episode 3 getting a proper animation. Supposedly there are 7-8 episodes in the hands of private collectors

I find it very funny most of the Beowulf *DRAGON* battle was lost in a *FIRE* .

One of the things that is missing or lost is recordings of studio wrestling from the 60s,70s and early 80s. They used to tape over the masters to save money. Memphis, Dallas, Detroit, Portland, San Fran, all the classic territories.

I just saw the trailer for the justice league and didn't even realise. I never watched the first one so I forgot it existed in the first place lol

First of all, kudos for mentioning the lost Doctor Who episodes. I’m a big fan. 2nd, Cinemassacre mentioned London After Midnight, a silent Dracula film starring Lon Chaney. He called it the Holy Grail of lost media. Finally, something I’m particularly interested in, Saved from the Titanic. A 1912 silent film released only one month after the sinking of the actual Titanic. Most notably, the star, Dorothy Gibson, was an actual survivor of the sinking. Sadly, all copies of the movie were destroyed in a studio fire in 1914. If I had a time machine, I’d probably go back and save some of this media.

I've never believed the stolen/lost Green Day album story. So much about it just doesn't add up especially since they did do that Network album at nearly the same time. If anything, my guess is that the songs they were making were mostly too different from Green Day to be on a Green Day album so they put them on the Network album, retooled some other and held off at least one track (title track) as it was found to not work within the narrative that was now formed instead for the new rock opera album, American Idiot. So, knowing that such a story could build hype and help with the lore of the band all the more, they told it. At least that's what I think.

They could have created that song at any point between 2002 and 2011, or like I originally noted, they didn't think it fit on the Network album and instead set it aside. I'm willing to believe their story could be legit, but I'm highly suspect of the story they have fed us.

There was an old TV network called DuMont. They were right up there with ABC and NBC back in the day. Eventually they went under ... literally. When the network shut down, all of their tapes were dumped into the East River.

Me as a huge Green Day fan I’d love to hear cigarettes and valentines. Especially because a lot of those extra tracks from American idiot are actually some of my favorite songs on the album. I believe that they were all some what reworked into American idiot. And the tracks they did like they re worked into that album. I don’t believe it was stolen. I believe it was trashed for one of the greatest albums of all time.

Well, at least we’re getting the Snyder Cut on HBOMax soon!

The missing doctor who episodes all come from nearly a decade before the VHS was invented (and much longer before they became popular) and I don't think they were ever rerun

Apparently , as i'm writing this, DC plans on releasing the Snyder Cut as a 4 part mini series on HBO Max sometime this year (march 2021)

7:47 I've never thought I would see a Josh Snares video on another channel.

As an Australian, I'd love to see more of The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906) be found. At present, there are only 15 minutes of the movie that is recognised as the first feature film (ie, greater than 60 mins) found, some of which is in very poor condition. But much of the footage of that, and other old films, may have been destroyed during the filming of For the Term of His Natural Life (1927), which was a spectacular piece of footage because it used thousands of feet of old nitrate film to make a ship set afire more filmic.

You didnt talk about doctor who lost episodes well. Right now 97 are missing but a few serials are known to be in the hands of a collector who refuses to sell them for the price bbc has offered

Well, The Snyder Cut Sucks. It's Actually Worse than the Theatrical Cut from 2017, Just as i Expected it Would be. All of the Film's Main Problems Remain in the Director's Cut, Too Many Unnecessary Scenes, Weak Story, Inadequate Amount Of Character Development For The Flash and Cyborg, And Bad CGI.

One piece of lost media that is little known yet important is Quentin Tarantino's amateur directorial debut, titled *My Best Friend's Birthday*, released in 1987. Like Beowulf, It is partially lost, with only the first 36 minutes of the movie surviving a studio fire. Many QT fans say it is a blueprint for Tarantino's style and a few of the actors show up in small roles in later Tarantino films. If a second copy was found it would probably make some headlines. Although this video was likely recorded before it was announced, but the Snyder Cut is being released. Edit: you mention it in the video.

My hope is that one day all of my video will be outdated as more and more lost media becomes found.

I'd like to point out that the Snyder cut of Justice League is still lost media. Yeah, we got A Synder cut in 2021, but that's not the same as what we would have gotten in 2017 if Snyder had continued working on his original version. I'd wager that would have been very, very different.

no wonder why too much too soon sounded like it didnt belong on the album. like its a really good song but the style really doesnt fit. i dont know about the other extra songs on the album since i dont really like them and ive only listened to like 30 seconds of shoplifter and governator. and honestly i really dont believe in the slightest that youngblood was supposed to be on the lost album. it doesnt sound like it would belong on an album with too much too soon if that makes sense. like theyre very different. also on the american idiot album something interesting i guess is that theres a flash file on the physical cd that, when opened, advertises ringtones lmao. theres a prompt to put in an email adress to get updates or something but i doubt it works anymore. i had actually before opening it assumed it would be that because on the back of the album case it i think its supposed to automatically open (theres a file called 'auto run' in the cd) once the disc has been read but it doesnt work anymore. one of the files is a lot older than the rest by around 3 months i think which is interesting. the only files on it are the main flash file, an auto run file, a browser file that shows nothing, and another flash file i think that shows nothing. i have a physical copy of revolution radio but sadly it doesnt have any hidden files on it lol.

We got the Snyder cut in 2021 that's at least not lost anymore.

Another album that was stolen is one Shakira was working around 1998, her luggage was stolen on Bogotá's airport and on it were the lyrics of the album and I think there were demos as well, the event led to the writing of a new album called "¿dónde están los ladrones?", where are the thiefs on english, which is composed as far as we know of entirely new songs.

A curious trivia but "The Feast Of Steven" was the first episode of Dr. Who that BBC Archives junked as there was not sale value as its transmission would have to coincide with December 25, also no 16mm black & white film telerecording was made for international distribution, and once the master 405 line black and white videotape was erased for reuse the episode was lost forever, at least can be annimated at some point.
