Five Minute Sermon - 1 John 5

If we're honest with ourselves, we all struggle with confidence in some way. Insecurity leads to all sorts of weird and unhelpful ways we interact with the world. When we question if we are doing this whole Christianity thing "right," it's difficult to feel secure. Today we jump into 1 John 5 where the verses are an assurance of our faith. Treat yourself to five minutes today, draw near to Him.

Fantastic breakdown, love how simple, true, and applicable this was (which unironically is exactly how John writes 1 John!)... This ministered to me!

Do you not understand God's Word about women teaching and or preaching?

Is Gods wisdom only limited to Men? Or are we not all equal in the Kingdom?

@@q50tae According to God's Word 1 Timothy 2:12 "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." Women can receive God's Wisdom from God's Word, and from Godly men teaching and a woman can teach other women, but not over men

@@truthreigns7 Come on now - you can't reference Paul in 1 Timothy while ignoring that Paul allowing women to prophesy in 1 Corinthians. Scripture interprets Scripture, and Paul is not inconsistent. So what is he talking about in 1 Timothy 2? The flow of the sentence in Greek implies that "teach" and "exercise authority" seem to be one action not two separate ones. And the Greek word used for authority is an uncommon one - "authentein" - which means "authority given to one self." Or - "authority no one has given to them." In the Ephesian Church Timothy is Pastoring - there was a specific issue of women taking a role they were never given. NOT a universal truth that women can never speak or teach in a church. Paul is addressing a specific issue - that Timothy was called to Pastor that church, and this is consistent in the theme of 1 Timothy, as Paul spends so much time encouraging, uplifting, and empowering this young Pastor.

@truthreigns7 You've got Pricilla and Aquilla teaching Apollos in Acts 18, Romans 16:1-16 there's like 10 women mentioned, some of which hold a public role in the local church teaching - Paul calling them coworkers, Nympha in Colossians 4, and of course the well known Lydia in Acts. Scripture is ripe with women teaching, preaching, pastoring, encouraging, supporting, serving... Let's allow Scripture to interpret Scripture instead of cherry picking verses to make it say what we want it to say.
