Five Freights, Four Amtraks, One Saturday
I love the days when you're not completely sure where you're gonna go or what you're gonna get. Such was a Saturday outing in late January 2020.
I started out in Lakeland, FL on the ex-ACL lines, then went out to West Lake Wales in southern Polk on the ex-SAL Miami Sub.

After reading several comments, I am wondering if Danny is becoming the latest Florida tourist attraction. He could buy an old depot to set up an HQ with a restaurant. Have the local train group put in a small model train. Have a theater to run vids. Sell popcorn, merch.

"Good morning, Danny!" lol - I loved that! I can't thank you enough for doing what you do and sharing it with us. I don't have the capability to do what you do so I appreciate your bringing the trains to me! You take stunning footage of them. Excellent drone work! Very beautiful. The overpass made me think about one of my earliest childhood memories of spotting a train going over the highway driving in the car with my parents. Once spotted, I kept looking for them.

I've lived in my town for 25 years and the paranoia has invaded. I used to sit half way down a dead end road and watched freight trains on 3 parallel tracks but the Town built a water treatment plant next to the rails and the folks at the plant don't like people parked nearby whether you are taking pictures or not. Until last fall there were no signs stating "No Parking" here, there or anywhere or any other signage but despite this more and more police come by to find out why I'm watching trains. After my last traffic "Stop" last July they had big red signs installed at the entrance to the dead end that have no trespassing and trespassers will be arrested posted. I worked doing fire and EMS for 20 years and I'm a Life member of the town's rescue squad but that doesn't mean to much anymore. Paranoia, sheeeesh!

nw24153ns wow, that’s really unfortunate to hear. Whenever I feel that there’s a risk of getting talked to by the police, I just remember that what I was doing was perfectly legal, and as long as I didn’t trespass I should be okay. I have nothing against the police, in fact I’m totally for them. But for some reason when it comes to filming trains, I just get the feeling that they never understand why we do it
It's nice when the engineer say's, "Good morning Danny." Shows respect. I like it.

It’s always great when engineers acknowledge your interest with a horn blast. The RR workers around here are mostly friendly and appreciate the people who love trains and keep it safe. Danny is the best.
Good Morning Danny. 6:37 how often does that happen? these people really know you. great video Danny, thanks for sharing.
6:36 "Good Mornin' Danny." I loved that line. He must know you!

great as always
With all due respect to all railfanners who spend their money, time, and effort to upload train videos, what I like about Danny is that he satisfies my curiosity. When I'm watching other railfan videos and I see rails converge or diverge and I wonder what line is that, who owns/owned it, etc., Danny answers those questions before I even ask. Another class A video, Danny.
Great video. Keep it up. Can’t wait for you to hit 50k.
Thanks, Danny, for all your interesting and entertaining videos. Always looking forward for the next ones!
Great vid danny.
Love watching your video's.. you're like the paul Harvey of rail. Good day.. was born in Clearwater and been back and forth for 37 yrs. Tampa hands down is the best place to watch some trains. Grant where I spend half my life at is Indiana and we have some great rails round here.

Pretty sure I speak for most of my fellow railfans.... The icing on the cake would be to rub shoulders with Danny on a chase... I thought I had the bug bad, then I found this channel..Danny you are definitely a legend in the making! You give alot of the lower level railfans something to look up to... The part that makes me both smile and brokenhearted, is when you say "This is Danny Harman, out".... Video ended way too soon :-)
Amazing video Danny. Very well done 👍 It’s always nice when crews acknowledge railfans.
A little bit of everything here, and probably my new favourite of your videos, sir. Love the step by step explanations you do!
At least 40 years ago when I used to work as a survey assistant for the AT&SF, the transitman used to talk about 9" and 11" superelevation on curves where they ran passenger trains. When I worked the maximum superelevation was 5".
Thank you I enjoy your videos
Another fantastic video Danny. Thank you for all the time you spend to get us these great videos.
I love your videos and the way you explain things!
Thanks for another great video Danny !
Those Amtrak engineers and their precision horn blowing is quite unique and classy to me as making a statement of the trains they run. And good advise as when to travel if someone like myself is to venture down that way in the winter from the northeastern parts here. Thanks again mister and always look forward to your presentations sir....

Todd Brown It’s not a difference in engineers, it’s a difference in equipment. Amtrak’s P42s have a unique dual-value setup with a two-stage horn button that makes a very recognizable precision half-blast sound if the button is half-pressed. Modern freight locomotives just have a single stage solenoid, so freight engineers can’t really do half-blast. Back in the day, though, all locomotives had manual horn valves that allowed each engineer his own style of blowing the horn.
Another great video. Out of all the train videos I watch you videos are my favorite.
