While ForgottenWeapons has become a fairly large channel with a lot of visibility, there are plenty of other people out there creating excellent informative video content on historical firearms. Today I want to point out 5 other channels with great material that I enjoy watching, and learn from. They are:
C&Rsenal: / @candrsenal
Chris Bartocci: / channel
CapAndBall: / capandball
BritishMuzzleloaders: / britishmuzzleloaders
Vbbsmyt: / vbbsmyt
And, of course, Forgotten Weapons' own sister channel, InRangeTV:
/ inrangetvshow
/ forgottenweapons

Paul Harrell is great
Balázs Németh from capandball is my military-history teacher on the Hungarian National Public Service University and he's a great guy with a massive knowledge. It's always a pleasure and a lot of fun listening to his lectures.
Paul Harrell is another great channel. He's kinda a sleeper that sneaks up on you and makes you think this guy is underrated. One day he will be very well known in the KZread gun community. He does mostly modern guns and ammo but has a little black powder stuff and hunting tips/ammo trials as well. One of my top three channels definitely.

LifeSizePotato makes some of the best handgun reviews I've ever seen. He has quite a unique collection. Very cool stuff.
You forgot to mention BritishMuzzleloader's awesome mustache. That alone is enough to watch the channel, even if you don't like guns.
Another channel I would add to this list is Bloke on the Range. He's a British man in Switzerland who focuses primarily on the Swiss straight pull rifles as well as some other unique weapons, such as a Lee-Enfield No. VII.
Paul Harrell has a very good channel in general for Firearms!

I love his DIEMACO/ Colt Canada description. Low expectations meets surprising upset, versus Colt (USA) relying on the obsolete laurels and mass production. ...Even though I could be charged with bias for the former, it means nothing if our defense industry [Canada] gets gutted due to the ladder's incompetence and larger stakes! Pretty shitty for both US & Canada, in the end.
Your passion is inspiring and infectious, Ian. Promoting quality content even though it "competes" with your channel because you want more info out there. I'll never be as big a gun nerd as you but it makes me want to delve deeper into my otherhobbies because you show how rewarding it can be.
Bloke on the Range - I'm not sure if he's the best cross dressing target shooter with a love of Lee Enfields, but he's certainly the best I've seen. Well certainly in the top three.
Another great channel is "duelist1954". The guy's name is Mike Bellevue (hope I spelled the last name correctly) and he does a little bit of everything from flintlocks to modern pistols and rifles however he specializes in black powder guns from the mid 18th century thru the advent of smokeless powder. He's very knowledgeable and he does a lot of shooting too. He's just fun and interesting to watch. I'd recommend highly.
I also like Bloke on the Range he and "The Chap" have stepped up their content in the last month or two. They are currently doing a series on Swiss straight pull rifles with each variant having its own episode.
@keithrobertsson2164
7 жыл бұрын
Yeup, you, the Bloke, and The Chap need to get together the next time you take a European Grand Tour.
_Bloke on the Range_ is one that I really like (British dry-wit in Switzerland). I also really like _LifeSizePotato_ (snowflake hipster gun enthusiast), _Synchronizor_ (Rem870 and shotgun guy) and _InRangeTV_ (two weirdos with a bromance in the desert).
Forgotten Weapons, C&Rsenal, britishmuzzleloaders, and capandball are my favorite channels on KZread. There are other good channels but these ones are my absolute favorites (oh and The Great War). I love seeing you guys appreciating each others' work. Excellent video.
Thanks for the turn-ons. C&Rsenal was the only one I was familiar with although I think the well informed Canadian fellow I have run across on a number of other forums. Great information. Also, as a former newspaper editor, I respect the practice of bringing one's own mistakes to light and, when possible, correcting them. Aloha,Loren
+1 on Chris Bartocci. If I'm getting this right, I think he also worked for Colt for a number of years. At any rate, I love the "no hype" presentation style of the AR15 platfom.
cap and and ball, C&R, British muzzle loaders, Forgotten Weapons. All great channels.
Balasz Nemeth's channel called "capandball" is a fantastic channel. It's one of those I check daily waiting for a new video.
I don't know the AR-guy, but especially if you add Capandball & C&Rsenal to Forgotten Weapons, you are in historic firearms heaven. Balazs Nemeth made me a fan&collector of black powder guns. Then add C&Rsenal to "The Great War", and you learn more about WW1 and this time in general than in any school. I just love this combination of guns and history. These channels are abolutely fantastic.

Chris Bartocci is a wealth of knowledge, not just the AR. An industry insider and definitely squared away.
After watching every single Forgotten Weapons video on this channel, some multiple time, I had no idea about 3 of the channels listed. I'm excited to enjoy unknown more hours of gun related informative video's!!!
Good on you for doing this video and spreading the word about these other channels.
Britishmuzzleloaders is an absolute blast. Everybody here should definitely check it out!
thanks for bringing our attention to these other chanels ian
Ha, I'm subscribed to almost all of them! btw, Bartocci rocks, he deserves waaay more attention.
We have a new channel now, SmallArmsSolutions since our old channel was removed.
Chris Bartocci is indeed a great guy, his insider experience and knowledge about AR-15 is very interesting to listen to. That M16 in Vietnam -video got me to subscribe him as well.
I kept thinking I wasn't going to watch this whole video, but I did, and that last channel was the one I sub'ed. I like CAD modeling, and I can't imagine how much time he spent making those models and animations. Awesome, THX!
Cap and Ball is excellent! I also had run into C&Rsenal due to their collaboration with The Great War Channel.....which though it is not a gun channel, is also an excellent channel. All the others are new to me, so thanks Ian for the heads up!
I have viewed both the cap and ball, and the British muzzleloaders, and agree with your assessment of them. Will have to check out those others now....
this is what I like about you, the complete casualness of your videos, you admit fault, you plug channels you find interesting and your just so chill Gun Jesus. That and the information you give, you down play yourself but you have given me quite a bit of information on all these exotic weapons and it's a joy to watch
Really good of you to recommend these guys Ian. Surprised you didn't suggest Mike at duelist1954.

Well, you just have! I will check his channel, thanks.
I've watched CapandBall for a long time. He does a great job and is always entertaining. If there were only more hours in the day.
I am already have to Subs to Chris's channel and C&R Arsenal I found from the Great War and that is an amazing piece of work!!!!
I really apreciate your ego free video. I also am a subscriber of the hungarian channel, as yours too. Thank you for your work! I learned a lot from your channel. Greetings from Transilvania!
I am delighted that you included britishmuzzleloaders in particular on your list. That fellow really is first rate and I hope that his efforts are appreciated by a wider audience than people with a die hard interest in historic British service rifles , His attention to detail, in particular showing the service kit. uniform and weapons drill of the period is worthy of the highest praise.
Love starting my morning with F.W. I always thought some of these other channels were underrated. Thank you for bringing us match grade content.
haha i just discovered Chris Bartocci yesterday and was watching the video you mentioned about the M16 in vietnam this morning, really fantastic info there
I've been following British Muzzle loaders for at least 2 years! awesome channel! highly recommend it!
British Muzzleloaders is particularly great, you can tell he really loves working on his content
Happy to have already been subscribed to 3 out of 5 of these channels. Now to give Chris Bartocci and Vbbsmyt a try.
Ian, thanks. I'm alreadt aware of c&rsenal and capandball, but I didn't know about the others. Great tips. I will be watching these other videos.
Ian, I really enjoy your channel. I also follow Cap&Ball, Lifesizepotato, hickok45 and sootch00. There are many other great channels that I drop in on. Keep up the good work. :)
Hi Ian, I think you also forgot that the Dreyse Needle Gun you showed featured the Beck modification, due to the flat bold head and the screw on the side of the front end of the bolt. It featured a rubber obturator but it's thinner than the Chassepot's, to prevent or at least mitigate the gas leak, and in your example the rubber must have been worn out already. Most Dreyses were modified after the Franco-Prussian War and the adoption of the Gewehr 71 for Landwehr use. So if you can find unmodified Dreyses, they are extremely rare.
I've only just started watching cap and ball! He is excellent, so are you.
Big fan of C&Rsenal and also quite like the work of Cap and Ball. Was not aware of the other ones. Will def check 'em out.
Thanks a lot Ian, my watch later playlist just jumped 40 videos.
I have loved British muzzle loaders and cap and ball for months!
My nigga Chris Bartocci gettin some love!!!
Thank you, with the exception of the last video animation channel, I had viewed all of these, and totally agree. Now I know about the last one as well.... Might I suggest Mark Kovak also from Anvil Productions C&Rsenal.
I was expecting to have all of these already, but there was actually one I did not know about. Thanks. I love more information. More knowledge! I can learn a bit faster then the information is coming in, haha.
I already know about C&Rsenal and Cap n' Ball. I like them both! I will check out those other channels as well.
Ian is such a genuine and nice guy and I really like his delivery.
C&Rsenal? Never heard of Othias & Mae. Hehehe... Found BritishMuzzleLoaders from them and glad I did. I'll have to check out the other channels. -Jen
Chris Bartocci's channel is an amazing resource for the AR/M-16 platform.
capandball's voice could melt the cosmoline off a Mosin Nagant.
I just learned about Chris Bartocci a few days ago and he has a lot of 45+ minute videos that I must check up on.
thanks, Ian. I watch British Muzzle Loaders already and these others look good too.
You cut me deep Ian, not even an honorable mention? Oh wait, this is 5 Excellent channels, not 5 obscure channels...my bad!
Initially I was surprised Hickok45 wasn't mentioned, but he's that famous everyone knows him
If you want to see videos on a man who just really enjoys firing guns (and with a sweet range on his ranch to boot) the I'd recommend Hickok45 for those that do not know. The channel is not super historically focused but if you want to see Hickok talk about and fire firearms I'd recommend his channel

He doesn't seem to do much research, mostly offers his subjective opinions on guns. Which would be fine I guess but he also does a "oh boy it sure is great being in a free country where you can own guns boy it sure would suck if you didn't live in a free country ha ha" shtick that annoys the crap out of me.
Smarter every day and slo mo guys. Both are no gun specific channels, but have super interesting gun related footage. For example a speed comparisation of acual flying bullets.
Nice to see you throwing Othias and May some love. Their channel is excellent
You're very gracious. That's why I'm a patron.
If you like 19th century revolvers and rifles I recommend duelist1954.
I've been watching Chris B's channel, really good stuff. Interestingly in one of his videos he mentioned someone had told him he needs to get up with a dude named Ian at Forgotten Weapons and they should do something together. It's a small world after all.
BritishMuzzleloaders is amazing, been watching him because of a comment on one of these videos. His presentation, and straightforwardness is what I love about his channel. Every episode is crafted with a solid goal in mind, and he cuts out the bullshit. I like C&Rsenal as well, the Lewis gun episode was fantastic, but I feel they could have a cleaner presentation and cut away the slop. That being said, I'd rather have it like it is, than not at all.
Glad britishmuzzleloaders got a mention. Top channel and well worth subscribing.
Thanks Ian, I had already stumbled upon Chris Bartocci's channel and saw a great video on HK firearms. I will look into these other channels as well.

SNOUPS4 I can't remember exactly what point in the video, I just remember hearing it, pressing my nose against the screen, then running over to the window and barking for 2 hours straight cause I thought it was the dog next door trying to tell me his owners left out the beggin' strips again.
Dude thanks for your channel and ones you have recommended. they get me through my cardio sessions at the gym without being bored or listening to the gym music. thanks man.
The only channel I haven't heard of or subscribed to is the last one you mentioned. Great list
Good guy Ian. Gets popular, shouts other channels out.
Often after watching Ian review a weapon I go to Vbbsmyt to get a in depth visual. Always thought you two could work together.
Its not often that one sees a man defer to others when their expertise warrants it. You, Sir are a gentleman, and posses as a firearms scholar a sense of dignity missing from most forums today.
Ian, I think you are way too humble about your knowledge in firearms.
I'm impressed you mentioned my fellow Hungarian. I didn't think many people new about him
Just discovered Bartocci yesterday! I have to say, I'm disappointed I didn't discover him earlier. Wish there were more vids like this!
Great recommendations! Looking forward to your hands-on video with the Dreyse :)
Gun Jesus, doing the work of the father. Browning bless you my brother.

He's reshot a lot of them in higher rez with more content. His focus compliments Ians. Ian tells you how it works and how the designers thought about it, or the intended buyer. Potato talks about how to get one, what is rare or hard to find, and what you would want to know if you wanted to buy and use one now. I think of Ian as a window into the past of a gun, and Potato as a primer for the present owners.

Cap and ball is by far my favorite old school weapons channel.
My favorite is Paul Harrel, the channel is more about practical shooting knowledge and technique than history but does have an extremely detailed video dissecting the 1986 FBI Miami shootout.
another channel i like is 'Paul Harrell' he makes videos about how to shoot and how effective certain ammotypes are

Love all of these channels, especially C&R I have been watching them since near the beginning. Another one I would recommend would be Bloke on the Range, has a new series on swiss straightpull rifles and has done numerous mythbusting videos for many of the commonly held M1 garand misconceptions, he also has a number of interesting but random videos about stuff like indoor practice ammo and the very rare .22 Enfield training rifle. :)
:-D. Already subscribed to all of them, before I have seen your video. Britishmuzzleloaders was the last this morning :-D
I just started watching Cap n Ball a week ago good find Ian.
Thank you Ian for the heads up on this other channels, Im already watching the first four channels, specially love the guys and gals over at C&Rsenal, awesome work!!! The last one looks quite like the animation C&Rsenal are showing in their videos, is it the same guy making those vids? Keep up youre awesome work here Ian... cheers

Actually I am the dude who makes the animations for C&Rsenal. You're right in that it was the Lewis gun episode with the beautiful animation by Vbbsmyt that made me get in touch with Othais. He made a joke about being stuck with his animations for the rest of the guns and I just thought to myself "huh I can do that"

Thats nice, youre doing good work, easy to understand the mechanics when they show this animations. Keep up the good work :)
Very cool, very humble of you.
The hair is flowing and it looks great, Ian.
Chris bartoci is a very good chanel.
I think that is very prudent to pay attention to the words of someone seated next to an AK-47 !
There's one channel inexplicably missing both in the video and in the comments: InRangeTV ! (I know it's in the video description, but it deserves more)
