Fitting OME BP-51 Suspension kit on Land Rover Defender (how many hours of work?)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

OME BP-51 new suspension kit for our Land Rover Defender Puma 110. We replaced our current suspension outside on our parking lot. no lift, no workshop. We have a 2 inch lift and chose the Old Man Emu BP51 long travel suspension kit, fitting OME coil springs also.
An amazing full suspension upgrade for our 4x4. Looking forward testing it out off-road.
Thanks to our new partner, ARB Europe, for providing us with all those parts.

    Thank you for the video. Couple of things when I did a heavy duty coil, I gained 50 mm or 2 inches in lift. The issue I found was my panard rod had to be adjusted. I had to put spacers in for the anti roll bar ( they flip if you dont) and I put location cones in as the left spring kept dislocating when flexing. I see you took your out? Did you have any of these issues?

  • @offtrackfamily

    @offtrackfamily

    Thanks for sharing this. We previously had a 2 inch lift so everything was already done for this new suspension. It seems we don't need the cones with these new springs. As it's very new, we haven't been able to test them offroad. will share a first review later on this year :)

    No need of those ones anymore. Springs are longer and we tested the max axle angle when car was jacked up, shouldn't be an issue... in theory ;)

    @@offtrackfamily when the axle articulates to one side (one wheel up one wheel down) it will get much more droop than when the axle is just hanging down on both sides together.

    I have the Gwyn lewis challenge suspension on my Defender with +5 pin to pin OME shock absorbers and +2" OME springs. The OME look good and have good reviews. Hope they come out with a pin to pin version if they Don't already. The rear OME are quite firm on my pick up and think these will improve the ride. Are they rebuildable?

    Swisw homologation paper, we got it at Offroad Accessoires in Geneva. Usually, you can buy the homologation paper from a swiss shop who sells them. And usually, if you buy the suspension from the swiss shop (and maybe have it installed too) this paper should come with your purchase. We didn't have that paper because we received the parts directly from ARB Europe.

    Yes, it‘s a Problem! My 110 (also bp51) with roofrack an alucab expedition tent, 270 awning is not funny to drive without the anti roll bar. If its mounted and you are going offroad it turns over in upper direction. The spacers delivered with the kit are mounted. All i can do ist to take the anti roll bar out for going offroad ……

    ARB do put spacers for roll bars in their kit. Some friends also remove the roll bars when offroading because of the issue. We feel it's a pain doing so because when traveling we're on & off road regularly. In any case we can't have them on because we have a long range fuel tank.

    Thank you for your answer. I have tried several options. The Defender is so much better to handle (onroad) with mounted rollbar. In the next step i will try to rebuild the arb spacer a little bit „fater“ i think a plus of 4 cm will do the job very well. If it works fine - you will hear from me 😊 Thank‘s for your Videos.
