Awesome Steve, you make it look simple bud, just might have a go myself if I can pick up an old reel cheap enough to play with.

Good video mate. To bore the hole though i would of used a clamp with a pillar drill. 👍🏼

Brass is a PITA do drill as it's so soft. Back the cutting edges of your drill bit off, so it's not as sharp and it wont bite in, and will drill through much easier

Hi. I’m wanting to purchase my 1st multiplier reel. Never used 1. I want to fish smooth - medium ground and get as much distance as possible. Happy to spend on quality. What would you advise? Love your videos mate. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

You cant go wrong with a 7ht either the old black one or the blue mag (bit more pricey). A standard abu 6500 will cope with the smooth stuff fine but a bit weak for mixed ground. If its your 1st multi have a look at the old black daiwa 7ht or if you want something newer and modern akios have a great range too something like the akios dynamo 656 retail around 79 new which aint bad. That reel uses brake blocks rather than mags. The magged reels are a bit dearer. If you want something a good bit tougher than all of those i recently bought a penn 525 mag 3. Slightly bigger spool much more sturdy, strong drag biggrr handle, but then dont cast quite as far but still castable and not bad priced either. Also the penn fathoms seem popular too. The smaller abu akios 6500 and 656 will give the ultimate in distance but not for cranking through kelp etc!! They will cope but need to pump rod and reel.

PS heres my vid casting the penn 525. Adjustable mag control very safe to cast for 1st time user of multi. kzread.info/dash/bejne/da5q0c-zopmfcto.html

djrmonix thanks pal. I’ve looked at the Akios and like the 565 shuttle STR Kuro. Also the Penn 525 mag3 and Diawa 7HT all on my list. A few lads I know recommend the Nitron. I will be a toss up of 1 of these I think. Thanks again. 👍🏻

hi sir, can explain the difference between monomag and centre mag?
@djrmonix
3 жыл бұрын
Monomag is just 1 single magnet attached to sideplate. Centre mags are usually mutliple smaller mags maybe 3 or 4 or more arranged on a disc that can slide in and out towards spool on a threaded speed bullet inline with the spindle ie in the centre. The centre mag control knob goee where the left hand end cap usually is.

Dont think any one is better i just prefer monomag. Easier to install etc but i have heard people who have centre mags say they are more gradual when winding off mags whereas monomags can be very on off, when u wind off suddenly there is nothingn
