Great tip. Love the Fisker Ocean such a cool car.

I had a mobile tech tell me to use a dry sponge to gently scrape the top and bottom of the 2032 battery to gently remove the “coating” on the battery. So far this technique has resulted in my key fob working flawlessly. And he also said if your key is within 35 feet of your car it will communicate with your car so putting the fob in a pouch or box that stops the communication between would be helpful.

Thanks! I also heard minimizing handling (human skin oil) is good too. However, it's hard to remember to install batteries with gloves on!

This is great info. Would like to know if car is dependant on key fob signal also after first connecting and approval. I mean during driving also. If not, I presume less use of battery may occur during driving?

The car keeps in contact with the key fob while driving. For example, if I put the fob in the Faraday bag, the car will complain. I'm sure they will optimize battery usage over time.

Noob question, only had my car a week. Fob wouldn't work a couple days ago, so I did the "hold it to handle, etc" trick to get in and get home. Since then, my fob still won't work. Do I NEED to change battery, or is there some reset I'm not knowing about?

Most likely you will need to change the battery. Travelling overseas by rail/ship/truck to destination over weeks stresses the fob battery. There is also an excess of communication between the fob and the car, which is also using up the battery. Either an update will fix this or the rumored key fob replacements will be arriving (phone as a key and a NFC key card are also planned). Another tip is when you want to unlock, go up to the car and press unlock once, wait 3-5 seconds and then press it again. The first press wakes up the car.

As long as we’ve waited, this shouldn’t be a thing owners have to deal with

Great Video... I have a few questions. What is the real ANSWER? This morning I had a Fisker Service Technician come by my home to check a few things out on my Ultra. The Key Fob The Software Version (1.11 (1/2) Note: According to the Tech the Key For uses Bluetooth and RFID to communicate with the car so an RFID holder does nothing with draining the Key Fob Battery. - Is this True or False Guys. I just bought an RFID key from Amazon. Note: According to him the software version that I have version 1.11 (1/2) is the complete version of 2 of 2. - - Is this what you guys have found out as well?

A faraday pouch blocks all radio frequencies (including Bluetooth and NFC/RFIC). I have seen people that have the complete version which is 1.11 (2/2).

You will need to solder it back on.

Make a video of 3 rd party keyfob that would work. Read someone lost their fisker keyfob and had no way to start the car.

Unfortunately there are no third party key fobs available. NFC card and Phone-as-a-key are coming.

For $70,00, I expected better.

I’ve replaced the battery on my FOO key fob 3 times within 3 months. The Faraday signal blocking cover doesn’t always work. Sometimes I have to go farther with the key fob to put the EV in sleep mode… at least a mile away. The key fob definitely needs to be recalled and provide an option to manually disable that signal.
