I have a loudbox mini and I really like it. It sounds good with both my Yamaha YEV and my acoustic ( with pickup).

I have the same equipment, what are your settings on the amp ? I am new to using a fiddle thru an amp...

I use an acoustic violin w/ Eric Aceto pickup, Fishman Aura Spectrum DI, & Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge. The system runs entirely on batteries for busking, & offers superb sound quality. It has already paid for itself multiple times over. The amp is wonderful, but the Aura Spectrum makes the difference between a nasal tone & a full, natural sounding violin tone. I get loads of compliments when playing on this setup. Matt, I’d like to hear you do comparisons of EQ modeling pedals such as the Aura Spectrum, Tonedexter, & a few others that have come on the market recently.

Hi. Say I have the Fishman loudbox and a Scarlett 2i2. I also have a condenser microphone, but I'm willing to get a pickup for playing outside. What else do I need to play my acoustic violin outdoors (amplified)? I have looked at so many forums to try to find out and I just end up really confused with all the options. Thanks in advance!

    You'll need either a pickup or a mic. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pIiK1NOaY8beZco.html

Matt, I am looking at the Fishman loudbox Artist and the Bose S1 pro for electric cello. a lot of the stats seem similar but I know that the Fishman is the acoustic-focused amp company so I am wondering if the sound quality is superior for the lows and highs that the cello can produce?

The Fishman probably gives you a warmer sound through most of the range of the instrument, but the Bose will give you more fatness at the bottom.

@@ElectricViolinShop I do like that fatness at the bottom I am thinking of getting the NXT-a 5string with the CGDAE tuning with the high e instead of low F so I wouldn't be hitting that super-low tone. I play a lot of Celtic and Irish music so thought would be exciting to get into the violin tone ... ?

@@katierhea4902 I like both amps but for different reasons. The best thing you could do would be to try them out. Lots of places have a 30 day return period. You can buy both, try them out, and return the loser. There's one very specific store I can think of that has that policy...

I recently got Barcus Berry pietzo pickups for acoustic playing and hear a gritty kind of bow sound. Do these amps sound good with this style pickup alone, or do I need a sweepable EQ?

My EQ Platinum Pro makes my ooooold Peavey 600b mixer amp sound golden with my acoustic violin + Barcus Berry. I would recommend getting an EQ DI box first. Then you can explore amp options. Just my 2 cents.

Would you recommend a Loudbox if I want to use a pedal board? How does it work with distortion?

  • @ElectricViolinShop

Good question. It's fine with distortion. It won't go to ear splitting volumes like a Marshall half stack or anything, but it handles distortion just fine.

I was planing on getting a mini for my brother in law who plays acoustic guitar with a pickup, but he wants to play with his wife on violyn on a mic, I'm gusinng a beta 58... know if this could work?

It should. A 58 isn't ideal on a violin, but it'll technically work.
