Fishing With LIVE Prawns! Sydney Harbour Fishing With Aka Mikes Fishing!
Shroom & Aka Mikes Fishing Collaboration Bream Snapper Trevally Wrasse Sweep Live Baits Prawns Yakkas #Fishing #Sydney Harbour #Wharf Landbased
G'day guys! A special video this week featuring Aka Mikes Fishing and Matt, where we fishing landbased at a Sydney ferry wharf with live prawns in the hope of catching kingfish.
It was our first time using live prawns but we knew how potent they would be. They caught plenty of bream, trevally, snapper, wrasse, sweep and a bunch of other fish. They were rigged mostly with a single hook through the top of the tail and left to dart in the water with minimal weight and weightless rigs.
We also tried using live yakkas at the smallest sizes that I've ever seen! It was a fun day fishing together for the very first time and it was something that we have wanted to do for a long time now and to finally have it happen, it was a big success!
Remember to check out the live stream if you haven't done so already - the footage does not overlap with what was shown in this video!

Hi mate. The fish you caught was a juvenile blue groper. They start off their lives as females, and then when the dominant male on a section of reef dies, the next largest female which is usually either brown or green in colour, will change colour and change sex to become a male blue groper, and will start growing again to reach the full size that you think of when you imagine a blue groper.

That's some awesome info Gopro Vids. 👍 I thought the shape and mouth kinda resembled a groper bar the white dots. I wonder how common are they inside the harbour...

Nice vid. 25 years ago I used to get little Brown Groper at Folly Point in Cammeray when fishing with crabs for bream. Never catch them there any more. Not sure why.
Awesome work guys, that’s a good spot for kings. Keep it up!

Thanks The Sydney Angler! Despite not getting into them, it was a good day for the both of us to finally get something happening.
That little brown fish is a Groper, they grow all the way to nice 1 metre giant blue one, good fun session mate, well done!

Speaking about John Dory i was fishing at Mrs. Macquaries Chair a couple years ago and as I was pulling in a undersized pinkie something all of a sudden hit the pinkie. Believe it or not it was a John Dory. As soon as I landed it the Dory spat the pinkie out. I always thought that Dory were a deep water fish. I have been fishing the same spot for years and have never caught another one. The Dory that I caught didn't put up a fight. It was as though I was winding in seaweed

That's an awesome story, what are the chances of that?! That's some amazing luck to upgrade from a pinkie to a John Dory. I'm gonna have to tick that box off one day and it won't be easy. Great catch!
haha marki mark used live prawns, now the whole of sydney uses them.

Good vid.... one question... and this is very disappointing... how big was your bream bucket again?? Limit is 10 per day for one angler and 20 for a fishing party/total possession is 20.. These fish take 30 years to get to any size.
@ShroomFishing

Hey Eric Williams. Thanks, I actually didn't keep a single fish in this video. I especially wouldn't keep a big bream because that's what I chase on lures for my leisure.
