Snapper and grouper get a lot shallower than you’d think. I live in Pensacola and I’ve caught 10-15lb snapper in the bay in 11ft of water and legal grouper in less than 20ft.

That’s awesome! I’ve found them pretty shallow on the jetty but never caught big red snapper that shallow.

Maybe try some slow jigging around 200 to 300 ft to catch more groupers
Sweet trip catching them in close like that. Used to could do that up here in Alabama before everyone and their brother got a boat and all decided to bottom fish. Any “private” spot you may have had has been hammered these days

I trailer all over but mostly south texas. How far varies what we’re going after conditions. . Furthest I’ve taken the panga out is 70 miles!
