How times have changed ! Never knew there was a camping park there . A long time ago we used to set up a tent in this little park next to someone's house and one night the owner came out and was ready to shoot us - but fortunately he saw that we had cleaned up the broken bottles and crap left behind from the local hoons and sort of befriended us . Now Al that is either the worlds biggest redfin or Audi is holding it out at arms length !

I lived in Oberon till the late 80's. Helped Bill Smith run the trout hatchery under the dam wall. A very keen fly fisher in the area & mostly in the evening on the dam. I'm totally dismayed hearing Carp & Redfin are now in the area. Wondering how they arrived in the dam. Thinking they must have been plasedcthere on purpose as no fish alive could swim up the overflowing spillway. Some malcontempt perhaps. Anyway it is a shame to learn this once great trout fishery ( we released some brook trout & atlantic salmon as well) has been infested with these pests. My biggest catch was a 12lb brown caught near the wall on my fly the green submarine.

Those redfin look like yellow perch in the US. Delicious as freshwater fish go.

I'm fairly sure you can put redfin back, you just can't move them into different waterways. At least that's the case in Vic

Great Vid Al we love a feed of reddies in Vic what do u prefer reddies or trout? It's getting harder to get a good feed of nice size reds here but when we stumble onto the right dropbar can clean up..
