From the time we got there the wind was almost unbearable. We fished for almost 3 hours with no luck, on both the saltwater and brackish water sides of the dike. Then, as the storm was coming in off the Gulf of Mexico from Jefferson Counties direction, everything changed.
The fish were on fire throughout the storm, and quit biting as soon as the storm passed. We caught Black Drum, Redfish, Trout, Blue Crabs, and Stingrays. It was a great day for fishing in Hickory Mound Impoundment, if you don’t mind fishing in wind, rain, and lightning.
