    For an even comparison I would use the same lure on 3 different lengths of popping corks and then have one pole, with the same lure, without a popping cork.

    For a short drop, use smaller popping cork. In shallow water, hang cork upside down. Makes less noise and similar to feeding reds. Caught many reds and flounder this way

    Exactly, in those flatter conditions, I’d use an original Mansfield Mauler “cigar” cork if I used a cork at all. And likely not to use a cork at all in clearer water with light to no chop. It really is about right tool in appropriate conditions that warrant that tool.

    I thought a short leader like that was bad idea till I saw that's what worked under the lights in arollo city. Still the only place I've seen such a short leader be used but it was by far the most effective rig I saw be used.

    I made a popping cork with a hook on it one time when I was in Florida, I might still have it lol been like 5 years. But essentially I attached a swimbait stinger hook to it off a largemouth bass set up I had. Redfish we’re hitting the cork and I ended up catching 2 during the trip that hit the cook lol

    I read that some guys use a top water instead of a cork. they took the front hook off and the bottom but left the middle hook. just so when they get the "cork" strike the hook on. you should give it a try I never tried it myself tho

  • @johnkarges8829

    @johnkarges8829

    I have tried it on a popper topwater, not a walk-the-dog topwater (as it impedes the walk), but with a chugger style popper, oh yeah. And it mimics the old freshwater bass rig called a spook-and-fluke. I prefer an unweighted soft plastic like a Zoom fluke or Bass Assasin and have even tied a bunch of shrimp flies to use behind the chugger/popper with 12-15” of 30 LB mono leader. I use it on a two-treble chugger and remove the rear hook to replace with the leader and leave the front treble for those fish that blow up on the lure instead of the trailer.

You should do a shrimping video if you find the correct info where around corpus PA RP to skrimp. Also I got some secret from a guy that said using live lizard fish as bait will hook you on a gator trout.

    Do yourself a favor and switch over to the Vudu shrimp. Tough as heck and won’t slide off the hook. I’ve caught dozens of trout on a single lure without adjusting or replacing. And with a multi jointed tail, they won’t be so lifeless and artificial like the doa. The hook is also weighted at the very front allowing the jointed tail to float to a small extent and create some balance for the body. And with every “pop” creating a realistic tail flip. Keep up the great videos and content! Ps. Would love a follow up video of the Rover. And how well or not so well it’s held up after so many trips over the years.
